Need a word or phrase translated?

FYI, 上下 usually doesn't refer to "right side and wrong side" of thin things like paper. 表裏(おもてうら/ひょうり) or 裏表(うらおもて) is used for "reverse" instead.

うーん。 あれも大切、これも必要だからってとっといて、結局捨てちゃうってことになるんじゃないの?
What is that? からといってとっておいて doesn't make sense to me.

You have to pay attention to clues and learn how to group and break things.

あれも大切、これも必要だからってとっといて、結局捨てちゃうってことになるんじゃないの?

あれも大切
もれも必要

結局てちゃう

{[必要だから] [って]} [とっといて]、結局捨てちゃう

「必要だから」と言って「取っておいて」

"You say ' That's important' and 'I need that so keep it for me', but you just end up throwing it away anyway, don't you?

Can anyone help me translate what is on this staff? Thank you so much. It is from the 1940s in Tinian.

Could anyone confirm for me that " Follow the fire rabbit " translated into Japanese would be " 火ウサギに従う " ? working on a art piece and want to get it correct. thanks

Is that an imperative sentence? In what meaning are you going to use "follow"; to chase, conform to, go with,,, ?

yes I guess it is a Imperative Sentence the same way you would say "follow the white rabbit!" in Alice in Wonderland

Note that 追いかけて could sound feminine since you gave an example "Alice". If you want it to be more masculine, ファイアーラビットを追いかけろ! is more appropriate.

I see , what if it is a sign on the wall made for both female and males to follow does it matter which is used? like giving direction to " follow the fire rabbit " thanks again

Then, ファイアーラビットを追いかけよう! is better.
The verb 追いかける has a nuance of "to run down/hunt down". If it's better to sound more "soft", like a suggestion to show people the direction to go, ファイアーラビットについていこう! is more appropriate.

After trying to figure this out on my own, I have finally given up lol Can someone please translate "be brave" as in commanding I suppose. I can't seem to settle on what the correct phrase should be. ゆうき seems to be the word I need, but I'm finding too many different versions of the command and am still unsure. Thanks in advance for any help.

Situation?

Sorry, I'm making a pair of custom shoes and would like to have the phrase on there. Thank you.

Among the many versions you found, were there any that you found more aesthetically pleasing or whose length would fit your purposes better?

不審そうな顔をする田中さんを見上げる。

不審そうな顔をする田中さんを見上げる。

Tanaka is the one making the face (looking doubtful).

Because it's ...する田中さん the phrase is describing 田中さん. If it were the subject of the sentence with that face, it would be a conjunction like 顔をして、顔をし、or 顔をしながら.

Is this と quotation?
