Need a word or phrase translated?

Hi everyone my request is for translation of this sentence:
"Where the strongest light is hidden".
It's supposed to be engraved on the other side of necklace with kanji for darkness (yami) on the main side. Thanks in advance!

modern one
最も強い光が隠れている場所

classical one
至強の光の潜みし所

Hello, I'm translating a song, and didn't understand something in this sentence (these are lyrics from the song "21 seiki exemplify") :

Hello, ワタシは落書き帳
希望の通り絵のように
聡い子に育ちました

I'm having some trouble with "希望の通り絵のように", if I'm right "通り" means "the street", and "絵" a picture, but as it's not "通りの絵", I guess it's not meaning "a picture of the street" as i thought first, so i'm lost and I doesn't understand the meaning of this sentence.

I know that there's a non official translation of the song in english somewhere, but I'm not really confident in it.
So could you help me to translate this sentence in english, please ?

Both 希望の通り and 絵のように are an adverbial phrase modifying 育ちました. 絵のように is used as 絵に描いたように there.

とおり【通り】
3 〔同じ状態〕
いつもの通り
as usual
上記の通り
as stated above
彼の演説の趣旨は下記の通り
The gist of his speech is as follows.
言った通りだろ
I told you so!
おっしゃる通りです
You are right.
その通りだ
That's it
!
言われた通りにやりなさい
Do as you are told.
決めた通り実行した
He did exactly what he had decided to do.

Hi, I'm trying to translate a couple of short stories by Dazai Osamu. Could you help me interpret some passages?

This is from 皮膚と心:

結婚、という言葉さえ、私には、ずいぶんキザで、浮わついて、とても平気で口に言い出し兼ねるほど、私どもの場合は、弱く貧しく、てれくさいものでございました。

My translation goes like this: I could'nt pronounce the word marriage with indifference. It sounded affected and disturbing. For me, marriage was something weak, poor and embarrassing.

こんな醜い吹出物だらけのからだになっても、]やっぱり何かと色気の多いおばあちゃん、と余裕を持って自身を憫笑(]びんしょう)したい気持も起り、再び本を読みつつけました

How could I translate this 色気の多いおばあちゃん (a sexy granny?)?

Thank you in advance!

世界で格闘技と名のつくものの大会にはかならず祖父の名がくわわり資金をおしみなく提供しておりました。

Even we make the name with the martial arts in the world in addition to the name of grandpa certainly we offer funds without regret at this tournament. (damn it is so dull!)

I have a number of phrases that I need help with translating.
For starters, how would one say "I don't want to rush you so there is no deadline, please take as much time as you need"

What I managed was:
せかしたくない, だから期限はありませんので、お手空きのときで結構です。

What I want to add on to this is: "However, please be sure to contact me if you need more time or if there has been a change."
Not sure where to even start with how to say that.

Also would like to translate this phrase:
"Recommended dimensions for the illustration are the following:"

What I got for image/ illustration dimensions was this: 画像解像度

Quick Question: In the following sentence, would the reading of 一日 be "いちにち"?

一日の仕事が終わると皆家路を急ぐ

~ほど… is a structure to express a degree "so...that~".
私ども is plural.

It refers to a fact that she was jealous about her husband's ex-wife, so I don't think "sexy" is a good translation.

格闘技と名のつくもの doesn't mean "to make the name with the martial arts".
The subject of 提供しておりました would be 祖父, not "we".

You don't need to say せかしたくない、だから.

You said "please be sure to contact me if you need more time", nevertheless 期限はありませんので、お手空きのときで結構です? I think these are conflicting with each other.

Dimensions is サイズ or 寸法. 解像度 refers to resolution.

一日の仕事が終わると皆家路を急ぐ
Exactly.

Exactly.

Sorry, I'll go into more detail regarding what I am trying to say with those two sentences. Commissioning someone on pixiv for a full color illustration.
Since I don't like rushing people, I would like to tell the artist that I have no deadline and I will let him determine the length of time he will need. I am willing to extend the deadline that he has set indefinitely if he requires it, but I would like for him to notify me if he decides he needs more time or will be unable to fulfill my request, just so I don't end up flooding his email at an inconvenient time. No need for an elaborate notification, just something short and simple from him.

Kind of a meaty block of text that I'm trying to convey so I tried to simplify it and keep it short:emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

However, please be sure to contact me if you need more time or if there has been a change.
但し、納期に変更の必要が生じた場合には必ずご連絡くださいますようお願い申し上げます。

Hmm. I think I found the phrase 名のつくものの somewhere on the net. So is it more like: In the tournament which gathers martial arts around the world, certainly in the name of grandpa he offers additional funds without regret. (?)

惜しみなく doesn't mean "without regret". It's the same as 惜しげもなく.
Where does "gathers" come from?
Why "additional funds"? Isn't 祖父の名 the subject of 加わる in 祖父の名が加わり?
You just seem to guess the meaning from the pieces of words without parsing the structure.

世界で格闘技と名のつくもの modifies 大会.

In th clause 大会にはかならず祖父の名がくわわり;
大会 is the target to be added a name.
祖父の名 is the subject of 加わる.
加わる is intransitive.

祖父は大会に)資金を惜しみなく提供しておりました.

No... I just didn't realise 加わり is the masu-form. I thought it's some kind of adverb.

Yes, of course 世界で格闘技と名のつくもの modifies 大会 but translate it into 大会 of 世界で格闘技と名のつくもの is awkward, adding ''gather'' doesn't change the meaning.

It's because you misunderstand the meaning of 名のつくもの.
大会 doesn't refers to a tournament/competition. It's plural.

Can't understand...

世界で格闘技と名のつくものの大会

The tournament of things which is arrived from the name called martial arts around the world

私ども is plural.

It refers to a fact that she was jealous about her husband's ex-wife, so I don't think "sexy" is a good translation.

Thank you fro replying, Toritoribe!

But 私ども could also be used as a way of refering to oneself, expressing humbleness, right?

As I wrote, 大会 is used as plural there; not a competition fought among different kind of martial arts, as you interpreted, but competitions of each martial arts held in all over the world.

But 私ども could also be used as a way of refering to oneself, expressing humbleness, right?
私ども ALWAYS means "we" (or more often used as "our company/our side" in business scene). It's NEVER used as singular "I". In the example sentence, she meant "our marriage" by it.

Understood, Toritoribe!

There's plenty I don't know...

These are from きりぎりす:

お使者の但馬さんも但馬さんなら、その但馬さんにそんな事を頼む男も男だ、と父も母も呆(あき)れていました。

I understood that it meant that her parents couldn't expect much from a man who used Tajima to intermediate a marriage proposal. Am I wrong?

And what's the meaning of 人が馬鹿にしやがる? "People will take me for a fool?"

ちえっ! 女には、甘くていやがら、とおっしゃいました. Could you please explain this 甘くていやがら?

The woman is talking to her husband and uses あなた、but then, almost in the end, the repeats あなた達 twice, so, I suppose she is referring to her husband and his friends, is that correct? Because あなた達 is always plural too...

Thanks,
Karen
