The seller says it's an old Noritake, but the mark doesn't seem to be in a list of Noritake backmarks.

Haha. I was just going to point out before those dake examples that だけはある in the context of "nothing but" or ONLY with emphasis on the lack of a subject is relatively rare, at least to me. Generally it seems used to express an evaluative comment on someone's skills, habits, work that results in a positively nuanced phrase「…だけあって」「…だけのことはある」の形で、素質・能力・価値が相応に発揮される意を表す。。。。= because ～; as expected 「…だけに」～ not surprising that ～; It was worth ～" etc

Yeah, I, too, noticed that. The SELLER, who says it's Noritake (I don't believe it's correct), says it's 竹雪. (I googled some artists whose name is 竹雪 before posting my previous post, but couldn't find the same mark.)

BTW, those types of signature are not called 花押 in Japanese.

The first two characters seem to refer to a sort of citrus fruit (literal translation is "dragon citrus"), and the middle two "flower garden" is often used as the name of an apartment. In conclusion, it would refer to the name of an apartment (probably in China).

They are photo portraits - one of an old man and the other one of an old woman. They are pretty cool and finished off with a golden pen or some chemical process that created golden lines on top of the pictures.

Then why didn't you write like that in your initial post instead of asking to translate the whole sentence?
BTW, what do you mean by "verb", the predicative of the sentence or verb in the modifying clause?
