I'd like to ask for some small clarification with the word 煉罪 in the phrase "君の煉罪を裁く".

From what I could gather, 煉 refers to, among other things, the process of distilling/condensing; as such, would it be acting as an adjective to "sin/crime", implying an aggregation?

Would it be correct to translate the above phrase as "All your sins shall be judged"?

I've never seen the word 煉罪. What comes to my mind from the kanji 煉 is 煉獄 "Purgatory" as in Dante's The Divine Comedy. Probably it has something to do with this, just my wild guess.

Yeah, I've never seen it either.

I've been suggested to check on "purgatory", yes, but it doesn't seem to fit this line as I've heard the speaker of this line say it as "kimi no renzai o sabaku" which would require the subject of the phrase to be a thing to be judged, not a location.

That's what led me to assume the "ren" part would be an adjective to the state of the sins made by the person being spoken to.


vvvvv Edit: Alright. So, regardless of what the first word means, it still comes down to the subject of the phrase being someone's sin.

I'll just keep it simple since it seems the best way to translate it without making the phrase unnecessarily confusing.
