Need a word or phrase translated?

Hello!
Could you tell me what 傷の浅い means?
Does it have any figurative meaning? I'm really at a loss with this one...

Was it modifying something else? の often replaces が in modifying clauses, so you can take it as having the same general meaning of 傷が浅い. Can you give more context?

It could be referring to something other than physical injuries (e.g. could be emotional).

Hm, I didn't know の could replace が in such case. That makes this expression much clearer to me.Thanks a lot!
The whole sentence is:

なら傷の浅いうちに忘れるのが一番だ

It's taken from a manga, in that scene the character reflects on his relationship, so you may be right about 'emotional injuries'.

相手が人殺しを楽しんでするような狂人ならともかく

Here a young guy confessed that he killed a person, but then this sentence comes up and I have frankly no idea how to link up 狂人ならともかく with the rest of the sentence. I'm especially confused as to what ともかく means here.

Thank you in advance.

Here's a link to the entire page, that ought to make the context clear enough I hope.

EDIT: I'm not sure, but I think I found a proper translation:

"I'd understand if it were a lunatic killing for joy,"

Yeah, that translation is correct. 相手が人殺しを楽しんでするような狂人ならともかく、しかしそれはまだ12、3歳の少女だったんだ is actually a single sentence. (しかし is a bit awkward, though.) AならともかくB means "A is acceptable/understandable/reasonable, but B is not so".

It seems like しかも would be better than しかし here to me. Thoughts? とにかく人殺しを楽しむっていうのは恐ろしいなあ!

Ah, yeah, if it's 相手が人殺しを楽しんでするような狂人ならともかく and the last half of the sentence is omotted, しかも makes more sense as "moreover".

What does the SFX ギキッ mean? I looked all over online and the only meaning I can find for it is 'screech,' but that doesn't seem to fit the context.

Context: A girl is unable to control her magic and is accidentally filling a room full of giant ice cubes with it.

I'm thinking that it might mean the ice cracking or glass breaking due to the ice, but I'm not sure.

命がありゃ構わねぇ、銃ごと、腕を叩っ斬れ!

Question about the above sentence. Is ありゃ a contraction of あれは? Or is it of あれば?
I assumed it was あれは, but somehow あれば seems to fit better in this specific context.

Isn't it ギッ "(filling / cramming) tightly"?

あれば is correct.

trying to read and write in Japanese if anyone can help that would be great thx.

Well done.👍 Just few corrections.
アンデッド族 seems to be translated just "Undead".
The subject of 特殊召喚される is このカード; This card is Special Summoned.
フィールド上に means "on the field". 上 doesn't modify フィールド.
1)
The meaning is the same. The -te form sounds a bit colloquial than the -masu stem. (Therefore -the masu stem is preferred in a certain type of sentences such like "explanation", as in the example.)
2)
The subject is the player. The next sentence 相手はデッキからその種類のカード1枚を選択して墓地に送る。 reinforces it.
カードの種類 means "a card type" here.
それ自体 or それそのもの

Sorry for the late reply...blame Pokemon Y xD
Thanks! I see. The points you made help a lot :-)

I had thought of that, but it looks like ギキッ to me. Here's an image of it:

I really have to say, this is こだわり過ぎる... obviously ギキッ is a crackly kind of sound, and you have context from the images, what more isneeded? SFX aren't words. If you were reading in English, it's not as if 'Biff' and 'Foom' are words that mean 'hit connected' and 'near miss',
they aren't words at all and wouldn't even be recognized by anyone that isn't familiar with the old-school Batman. They are just suggestive sounds that are intuitively understood, ... as are most Japanese SFX. (Granted there are cases of non-physical SFX like きらきら and ニコニコ that aren't intuitive, but most of those are in the dictionary as general onomatopoeia words. This is a pretty obviously physical sound example though.)

I know that SFX aren't words. Also, it isn't all that obvious to me. Usually I'm able to find their meanings on Jaded Network, but not always. I want to be sure of what they mean because I'm trying to transcribe them. If I was just reading the manga, I wouldn't be all that worried about it. Anyway, thanks for clarifying the meaning.
