Need a word or phrase translated?

The object of 選べる is 宿種, not 魅力エリア, and the subject of 選べる is you/customers.

toritoribe thanks. So how does ga ari fit in?

I have " A magical area where there are various lodgings ranging from stylish pensions to homely dwellings which are chosen to fit the scene"

is this anywhere near right?

Only if "fit the scene" sounds ok to you. My own TL would be "fit your needs".

新しいのについていけなくて困りますよね..。^^;

スラングというよりも口語的表現でしょうね。辞書にも載ってるくらいだから。

7 同じようなものがそろう。重複する。「キャラが―・る」「保護者会でAさんと洋服が―・ってしまう」 「前の人と発言内容が―・る」

それなら is used when the speaker denies the addressee's previous interpretation and gives his/her new idea. 大丈夫なら doesn't make sense here. 私が士郎を襲い、あなたは抵抗できなかった。大丈夫ならいいでしょう??? The story is completely changed. Thus, the answer is no. The speaker basically says "my explanation should be accepted", as I wrote previously.
大丈夫ならいいでしょう???Obviously a bad example with a not so common usage, although I actually meant it in the sense of もしよければ(同意を求める)not 体調を尋ねる Probably それなら contrasted with とすれば or something would have been a more properly applied for "take to be the case" or "assume to be true without verification or proof" etc.

Hello, I wonder if anyone could help me read and understand the title of the last Kan Mikami (三上寛) album: 馬銜っ主.
If I understand correctly, 馬銜 can be read in two ways: くつわ or はみ, and means 'bit' (as in, the thing they put in horses' mouths, and to which the reins are attached).
主 is more well known of course, 'lord', 'boss', 'chief', 'main', etc. It also has various readings, but judging by the sokuon before it, I'm guessing here it is しゅ.
My guess is that 馬銜っ主 is pronounced くっしゅ, but I would like to be sure, and if someone can offer a decent translation or interpretation of this title, that would be nice as well.
Thank you!
PS. The album I'm referring to is this one: http://www.discogs.com/三上寛-馬銜っ主/release/4199324
It's pronounced ハミッシュ, i.e., Hamish. That's an 当て字, a kind of word play.

お洒落なペンションから家族的な民宿まで様々な宿種がありシーンに合わせ選べる魅力エリア。makes sense? The two clauses お洒落なペンションから家族的な民宿まで様々な宿種があり and シーンに合わせ選べる both modifies 魅力エリア. Plus 選べる is active potential, not passive, and its subject is you/customers, as I wrote previously.

三週間も経ってるから何の話題か最初わかりませんでしたが。。。

大丈夫なら can't mean もしよければ(同意を求める) in this context anyway. And again, neither それなら nor 大丈夫なら can work here. It should be それで.

大変お久しぶりですね!

改悪されるかも知れないですが、その文の先頭に書くべきだったのは、「 If, In that case...」です。

「それなら / とすれば (?)..... それで、いいでしょう?」は、相手の言っている内容の信憑性に無関係には 「If so, then in that case...」というニュアンスになりますか

いえ、前にも書いたとおりそもそも「それなら」と言える文脈ではないんです。つまり if so は使えません。相手の言ってることを否定した上で自説を主張しているのではなく、こちらの(実際には事実とは違う)解釈を単に一方的に押し付けてそれで納得しろと言っているだけなので。
ちなみに、引用元である『fate』がどんなストーリーで、あのセリフがどういう場面で言われたものなのか理解できてます?

I'm a newly learning how to speak/read japanese and I came across this in two dialogue boxs and i'm a little confused. the first box: あまりに まぶしい ものだから the second box: つい うっかり 追ってしまう and then under the dialogue boxes it said 彼の金髪が うつとおしい!

@Kmmoore
We could help you better if you'd explain what exactly confuses you, and what the context of the conversation is.

Can someone help me with this one?

このプリント
士郎に出せば
いいんだよね?

There isn't much context. A girl says this while holding an undefined piece of paper in front of a guy in the background and this doesn't come up again.
I'm a bit confused by the 出せば. Does it mean 'to publish' in this context?
"Can you (Shirou) publish this flyer/handout?" - Is that about right?

プリント mostly refers to "(teacher's handmade) question-and-answer sheet" in school life.
出す means "to hand in" here.

A simple question:

how would you say "same here"? For example

「来週は行けない、ごめん。」
「Same here, 試験はもうすぐだからね。」

よろしく

I would say 僕も / 僕もだ / 僕もだよ.

BTW, もうすぐ試験だからね would be more natural unless the exam is the topic you are talking about at that time.

Oh, it's so simple. ^^', もうすぐ試験だからね does sound a lot better, thank you, Toritoribe.

need help with 叱られちゃいます.

i'm not sure what the cha is for.

Colloquial pronunciation of 叱られてしまいます

We do something similar in English, doncha know.

thanks, i never would have figured that out. are there any goods for that kind of info or is it just something you pick up from being there?

That kind of information is available in various learning resources. Rikai-chan plugin deconjugates ちゃう endings and EDICT provides a definition of ちゃう as an auxiliary-verb that looks just like the definition for しまう. There's some mention of contractions in Tae Kim Learn Japanese | Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese and if you can read discussions about Japanese in Japanese, chiebukuro Yahoo!知恵袋 - みんなの知恵共有サービス in a great help for deciphering slang and contractions, as the question has usually already been asked for any expression that is used in the modern language but isn't in the dictionary.

At least some of the common contractions were mentioned in Japanese for Everyone, but I don't recall exactly which anymore. I believe Genki also mentions a few of the more common contractions. It does sometimes help to simply read a phrase out loud when trying to decipher colloquial writing, as what's an 'obvious' contraction in speech is not always so obvious in writing.

It is, however, a general rule that ては becomes ちゃ and では becomes じゃ. てしまう becoming ちゃう is a bit of an extension from that.

( ... or you could just follow Toritoribe's link, I didn't know that page was there... )
