Need a word or phrase translated?

Could someone please see if they could translate this from Romaji to English?

If it helps any, this is from Full Moon o Sagashite. They're lyrics and I can't seem to find a translated version anywhere. If you could help me out I'd be very thankful ~ <3

Hello! I need help! I'm participating in a Japanese speech contest tomorrow, but I wrote the speech at the last minute. So now my university professor doesn't have any time to check it for mistakes. Can anyone do this for me? I'm desperate. My level is basic (I've been learning Japanese for 2 months) so the speech is quite primitive. And we haven't learned much kanji by now so I wrote everything in hiragana. Here's the speech:

EDIT: I kind of got fixed the top part, now the problem is the bottom part. I'll write what I wanted to say by each sentence. Because I know I wrote something incomprehensible.

おんがくをただのバックグラウンドミュージックとしてあつかうひとがいます。
There are people, who treat music only as bacground music/noise.
だからたまにはおんがくがかちをうしないましたときがします。
That's why sometimes it feels as if music has lost it's meaning/value.
でもそうでわありません。
But that's not the case.
たしかに、おんがくはいぜんよりべんりですそしていぜんよりそのようなアトラクションもうありません。
True, music is more available than before and it's not as big atraction as before.
それでもなぜわざわざすきなアーティストのライブコンサートにたくさんファンがきますでしょか。
But then why so many fans go all the way to their favorite artist's live concert?
ぜんぶすきなきょくネットでかいますができるのに。
They could all buy their favorite music in internet.
ひとはおんがくのなまえんそうをひょうかします。
People do value live music performances.
だからおんがくはかちをうしなっていません。
That's why music hasn't lost it's meaning.
おんがくはほかのげんじつよりもっとみりょうさします。
Comparing to other arts, music is the most mesmerizing.
おんがくはほかのげんじつよりひとにもっとつよいかんじょうをあたえます。
Comparing to other arts, music gives people the strongest emotions.
かなしいおんがくをきくときになみだがでます。
Listening to sad music people get teary.
にぎやかおんがくをきくときにあしがかってにうごきますそしてひとはたのしくおどります。
Listening to fun music people's feet move on their own and then people start dancing happily.
それでもときどきおんがくはかんじょうてきなおもいをあたえます。
Nevertheless, sometimes music can give negative emotions.
だれでもきんじょうのうるさいなおんがくきらわれています。
Everyone would hate neighbors' loud music.
だからせきにんをもっておんがくをききましょ。
That's why let's listen to music responsibly.
それならほかのひとにめいわくをせずにじぶんによろこびをあたえましょう。
That way we would be able to give pleasure to ourselves without giving trouble to others.

I'm most afraid that I might have written some impolite forms of words, I need my speech to be polite.

Hello, (Hope this is the right section) ><
I go to a comic convention this weekend and one of my favorite authors will be present for signing sessions.
How can I tell him "Please, could you make me a little drawing over the character like you do sometimes on your posters ?"

Note : On signing sessions, this author sometimes redraws over its own characters by adding colors or accessories.

Thanks a lot for your help!
(I can't read hiraganas and katakanas, so can you write me in romaji ?)

Thanks again!

Thanks for the translation.

I'm unsure of the last part here, both the function of なんだ here as well as what the last part refers to.

ああ、これは正真正銘の貴重な品物なんだ。
なんだ、うちの店の自慢、これがあったじゃないか

Is it, "it's the pride of my/our shop, that I have this (literally - there was this)" with the じゃないか in this sentence being a sort of softener which makes the bragging statement sound a little less "braggy" or something? I can't translate the なんだ here so I just tried without it but maybe it should have a meaning similar to "well in fact", "I say" "you see", "for sure" etc or something like that...

Also, what function does the って serve here, why isn't it just こんなに高く買える?

こんなに高くって買える人いるんだろうか・・・。

Here's a sentence from the Denshi Jisho example database. Even with a translation I haven't figured out the construction and therefore I cannot understand it. Maybe the verb はじまる serves a special function here which I don't understand.

その事故を犠牲にしてもはじまらない。

This is the translation provided.

"It will not do to blame him for the accident."

Hi shemi,

first of all, your Japanese is very amazing! And no worries, your writing (speech) is polite :)
By the way, I am Japanese, and I hope my response will help you. I tried to keep your words, but I changed some parts. If my changes are uncomfortable for you, please ignore them.

Hi, shemi

Could you check #11358?

I was replying to you, but it became a new post!

Shemi: that should be in its own thread as it goes WAY beyond "word or phrase".

Thank you so much chisadesu! I am so grateful!

And I have question :)
To say "people" in general is it better to use ひと or ひとびと?

@Mike Cash sorry, I was desperate to get it fixed somehow quickly :)
But if you look at it the other way around, you could say that this is as collection of phrases ;)
Anyways, I'm going to follow the forum rules strictly from now on :)

Yay =)
About your question, usually ひと refers an individual, and ひとびと refers a group of people. So, in this case, I think ひとびと might be better.
:)
And thanks Mike Cash! I will also check the forum rules!

Oh, and I just noticed something :)

すきなきょくはぜんぶネットでかうことができるのに。

Instead of できる could it be できます?

Or if I leave it as it is, wouldn't it sound impolite?

The masu form of a verb is the normal polite way to say a verb in a sentence. -ru, -aru, -iru are the dictionary forms of the verbs and are used when talking to children as well. At least that what I was told by a native speaking friend of mine.

They may both be used for either adults or children. Like everything else about Japanese, the answer is "it depends on the context".

The important thing, Shemi, is consistency.

Oh, good question!
In this case, first, we wanted to use the word "のに" to show music fans' contradiction (music is available on online, but music fans prefer to the live performance). To use "のに," the verb "できる" (which leads "のに") will be, usually, the original form. And "できるのに" does not sound impolite, here.

But, I might mistranslated your original sentence.
>They could all buy their favorite music in internet.
すきなきょくはぜんぶネットでかうことができるかもしれないのに。
This ↑ might be closer to your thought.

I hope my explanation is okay. If there are further question, please let me know.

No, the first one was closer to what I wanted to say :) Wow, I really love this forum. People are so willing to help! Thank you. I'll have more questions in awhile, so stay alert :)))

おどりたいとき には、ダンスミュージックをききます。

originally I wanted to say

さいせいします instead of ききます. As in play music. But a friend of mine said it would sound weird.
Should I leave it as it is?

I just wanted to note that there is an another option, to unite two sentences together.

それではなぜ、わざわざすきなアーティストのライブコンサートにたくさんのファンがいくのでしょうか。

すきなきょくはぜんぶネットでかうことができるのに。
=

It is a long sentence, but it might be a solution.
=)

Good night!

おどりたいとき には、ダンスミュージックをききます。

originally I wanted to say

さいせいします instead of ききます. As in play music. But a friend of mine said it would sound weird.
Should I leave it as it is?

You could say おどりたいとき には、ダンスミュージックをさいせいします, but it is not natural. Maybe, おどりたいときには、ダンスミュージックをながします can be an alternative.

Oh, good night chisadesu :) And thank you very very much! You have been the most helpful! Thank you! :)

I hope there will be someone else who will help me with the minor fixes :)

EDIT

Ok, after in the first paragraph I wanted to add sentences:

People often listen to music from a radio while driving. And even while watching TV you can also hear music.

ひとびとは、うんてんするとラジオからおんがくをききます。テレビをみるとにもおんがくをきこえます。

EDIT2
Instead of just listening to music, people can make music.

おんがくをただきくよりもおんがくをつくることもできます。

Did I write them right?

You did quite well, indeed. I can't believe you've been learning Japanese only for two months.
Here's just few minor corrections for the ones I noticed.

アグレッシブ(な)おんがく --> はげしいおんがく
(アグレッシブ doesn't make much sense to me as an adjective to music.)

start dancing happily
たのしくおどります --> たのしくおどりはじめます

we would be able to give pleasure to ourselves
じぶんによろこびをあたえましょう --> じぶんによろこびをあたえられるでしょう
(じぶんによろこびをあたえましょう means more likely "let's give pleasure to ourselves", at least in Modern Japanese.)

ひとびとは、うんてんするとき、よくラジオからおんがくをききます。テレビをみるとにもおんがくをきいています。

You can also use テレビをみるときでさえ if you want to emphasize "even".

Thank you very much! I thought that さえ would fit there, too, but didn't know how to use it in a sentence :) Now I know - or at least have an idea :)
And about my learning fast - I have a fixed speech in front of me now as an example, so I try to make sentences accordingly :)
And I have good intuition in languages and also I am an auditory learner. Take my English for example :) I learned it mostly from TV xD And Japanese too, I'm learning it quickly from Japanese dramas :)

I'm going to ask about two or three more sentences in awhile, and that should be it :) I can't believe I'm almost done! What if I win the first place? :D

EDIT:

Please check if these sentences are correct:

おんがくをきくだけかわりにおんがくをつくることさえもできます。
(Instead of just listening to music, people can even make music)

おんがくをあつかうかたがかえましただけです。
(It's just that the way to treat music has changed)

And that would be all of my questions! :)

おんがくをきくだけかわりにおんがくをつくることさえもできます。

Another option is おんがくをただきくだけでなく.

おんがくあつかかたがかわっただけです。

かた is attached to the -masu stem of a verb.
あつかいかた is treated as a noun, so the possessive particle の is used.
かえる is transitive, whereas かわる is intransitive.
The non-polite form is used for the verb/adjective preceding だけ. It's the same as のに.

Good luck for your speech!

Oh thank you so so so much!!!
Now everything is complete! I'll tell everyone what happens at the contest afterwards. And thank you!

I'm unsure of the last part here, both the function of なんだ here as well as what the last part refers to.

ああ、これは正真正銘の貴重な品物なんだ。

なんだ is an interjection, expressing surprise/amazement/disappointment for unexpected things.

3 感動詞的に用いて、意外なことにあきれたり、がっかりしたりする気持ちを表す。「―まだ終わらないのか」「―君か」
何だ(なんだ)の意味 - goo国語辞書

あったじゃないか is close to あったんだ here. The speaker has found that they have this item which can be the pride of their shop.

Also, what function does the って serve here, why isn't it just こんなに高く買える?

こんなに高くって買える人いるんだろうか・・・。
That's an emphasized form of 高くて.

Here's a sentence from the Denshi Jisho example database. Even with a translation I haven't figured out the construction and therefore I cannot understand it. Maybe the verb はじまる serves a special function here which I don't understand.

その事故を犠牲にしてもはじまらない。

Yeah, ~てもはじまらない is an idiom, meaning ~ても無駄だ, ~ても役に立たない.
