2. I'm going to have to resort to English for this question. In the same novel, a young man is looking into his late brother's past. His brother never showed the young man any love; the man grew up thinking his brother hated him. For answers to his brother's behavior, the young man goes to his brother's fiancee. She seems surprised at the question. She then hands the man a letter his brother wrote (and never intended for him to see) that she believes contains some answers. She says:
「彼はいつもとても不器用だった。」
No matter where I look, 「不器用」 is always defined as some variation of "clumsy". That doesn't seem to make sense here, though; it seems like a total non sequitir. Does 「不器用」 have some other meaning of which I am unaware - "awkward with people", maybe - or does it refer solely to physical
clumsiness? Is there something I'm missing?
