I can't explain well when to use 以上に、以上で、以上を、in every situation, or even 以上 as a part of speech. 以上で often precedes a verb, but not always. １００円以上で売ってください。 「３０人以上で使える部屋を探してください。 Sorry to be in such a hurry.

It is, though, a subtle difference that needs to be acquired through good use and naturalness rather than hairsplitting, complicated grammar。。。ね。

Yes, that was my intention there. I've heard contradictory accounts of whether or not it can be used for people above me (ie the many Japanese I talk to who are at least 20 years older than me)

Good, glad to hear that. One issue I face is my language partner is a 60 year old man out in the inaka--so sometimes I don't know which words are more commonly used. He had suggested the word 推量 to me.

"janai" is how you negate something, and "yo" is for emphasis.

"nani" means "what" and "nande" means "why".

It's kind of like in English:
