I'm not sure how to translate this one.
"My childish eyes could also see painfulness".
or
"Even my childish eyes could see (her) pain".
Not sure which one of those are more correct. Anyone want to give it a shot? Thanks a bunch.![]()

Even to my childish eyes, (it) appeared/looked sad/painful/wistful
I'm not sure about 幼い - 幼い私の目 means that 私 was a little child when I saw it. I wonder if the word "childish" fits in? Maybe not necessarily but "childish" has rather a negative connotation compared with "childlike". 幼い does not have such connotation, I think it is closer to childlike in this respect, but then I cannot think of any other words that matches 幼い in this sentence.

By the way, でわ -> では
undrentide;389494 said:I think the latter is closer to the original sentence, which can be translated:

でも「目」は広い意味で使われると思いますね。たとえば単に実際の目だけれど、たとえとして人間の良い面と悪い面や、それぞれの人間の光と影とも使えますね。
この場合の目はどちらかの意味でしょうか?

undrentide;389892 said:Do you mean the meaning of 「たとえとして」?
Yes. I forgot to include the brackets on that sentence. Gomen nasai! I've never heard 「たとえとして」before so I wasn't sure if it had some sort of special nuance to it to make it mean something other than "For instance/Example/etc.". Thanks once again undrentide!![]()
It's because there are so many possible translations depending on the type of person or thing involved...Nobody wants to translate my phrase! So, excuse me for trying again.

"One among many"
Pretty, pretty please.
How about this one? Well, it is though to be general and unspecified. Just one amorph item out of a undefined mass of similar ones.:

I can explain about the manual for bonsai but it's a bit too much.
It covers three different type of plants, which one did your brother have?
(I guess the carton box is marked with one of the above.)
As to the scroll, sorry but I have no clue.
Even the first three letters do not make sense to me. (Well, I admit that I have no knowledge about Zen, maybe that's why....)

Cheesy as in a cheesy joke or pickup line.
Spoiled as in a spoiled rich kid who gets everything he wants from his rich dad.

。。Others for garish or loud. I'm not sure which best fits a tacky or corny joke.
