Thousands of Muslims there set fire to at least 12 temples and 43 homes due to anger over a photo of a burned Qur'an posted on Facebook, allegedly by a Buddhist.

The attacks came as sectarian relations remain tense in Myanmar's western Rakhine state, where clashes in June between members of the Buddhist community and Rohingya Muslims of Bengali origin left about 3 people dead.

Some reports are talking about 100.000 victims.

So what are you saying?
That organised religion is responsible for countless deaths, suffering, torture, rape, and other atrocities all caried out in the name of some god or book.
Are you saying that the death of those people is the fault of that bloke mohamed, because if he hadn't written down his own fictitious ideas non of those people would have called themselves muslims, segregated themselves away from those that did not call themselves muslims, and none of them would be dead?

good point - lets call fiction fiction and be done with it eh.

Hezam, please refrain from posting repulsive images to the forum. You should be above internet hoaxes of such tasteless character.

You said enough bs earlier, If you read enough of my posts you would know my opinion.
I'm not justifying the murder of the 3 Buddhists, It's obviously against Islam ( i think you know this ), But i was wondering how some persons simply forget the death of 50.000 persons !!!!
Those who burned Buddhists houses/temples in bangladesh must be punished same as those who killed the Rohingya.
Look what this person said in his post :
where clashes in June between members of the Buddhist community and Rohingya Muslims of Bengali origin
It sounds like bengali people are not equal to the people in Myanmar !!!! It's like justifying killing them !

I'm sorry, I'm trying to keep my sanity lately, The events here are driving me crazy....

That is as a accumulation of peoples emotion for what happen in Rohingya which is their neighbor who have more causalities that involve both genocide and systematic rape, hundreds of house burn by both military and official, I wonder why non of you question or make a thread like "Is Budha really a peaceful religion?" there just nothing to discuss if a Muslim death, of course our death is common things we suppose to be death, but when there something that done within our part, suddenly everyone showing up their faces and questioning Islam.

Come on be fair here

There is no "fair" when it comes to violence it seems.

I'm still trying to understand why Muslims from around the world attacked and killed Americans over a movie made by an Egyptian man using money from Egypt who just happened to live in America. He lied to the actors who helped him make it. After it was made , he changed all the dialogue and story line. I wonder if he had made the movie in Egypt , if they still would have blamed Americans?
It seems when Muslims do something wrong, they say Muslim "extremists" did it , not regular Muslims; we are not responsible. Then when a person in America does something that upsets Muslims , ALL Americans are responsible. Seems to me , there is a lot of hate and violence towards America and it's people that is not "FAIR".

Uncle Frank

When a tiny handful of Muslims slaughtered and burned thousands of innocent victims, millions of Muslims around the world rushed into the streets to cheer and celebrate, indicating their support and approval.

Show me the footage of Buddhists around the world doing the same thing and then talk about "fair".

Please source your claim that millions of Muslims did this.

I think you have taken some film footage in Gaza Strip, and extrapolated wildly, much as the media and some politicians wanted you to.

Last I heard, the overwhelming majority of Muslims are moderates and either condemned 9/11 or we heard or saw nothing from them. Letting a noisy, scummy few people CLAIMING to be Muslims represent Islam is only productive if YOU TOO wish to sow the seeds of unnecessary and unfair hatred.

How many hate action, hate speech, that can provoke masses reaction due to provocation and succeed to get through behind the shield of freedom of speech and freedom of expression? From the first Quran burning in Florida and in Belgram the US already know, learnt and suffer the consequences. The public already realize this and try to consider to make a rule regarding to hate speech and they should reconsider this. The things is not everybody part of the world is America, and not all freedom of speech by definition is must be fit by the US definition of freedom of speech, so what happen in US will stimulate another part of the world.

As a muslim we already tired with a news about occupation, using of high explosive, chemical weapon, in various muslim country that been support and back up by the US for the sake of capital. The muslim position themselves toward the US is like the oppressor with the oppress. And after all of the atrocities that happen in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, in US concentration camp where innocent man being captive and torture, where a virgin been rape and sell for a hundred dolar until she hang herself and many suffer the same things. Then they let the Quran burning, and the masses explode in anger, and you confuse? "why they hate us?" but this very same question already been ask by us more then 30 year before you ask that question. Why they hate us?

So this action is nothing but like a legitimation that the US government not really fight for liberation, democracy, and all of that fake cause, it just make a legitimation what they against is Islam. Their Quran, their prophet. And it is not the US civilian that been target by the protestor and masses but it is their embassy. Their government representative not their citizen.

Now uncle Frank, did you condemn what your government do in whole muslim country? there more houses, schools, children, mothers, fathers, that fall as causalities?

---------- Post added at 07:11 ---------- Previous post was at 07:09 ----------

Uncle Frank, don't feed trolls

So exposing fallacy and double standard is trolling by your definition? I don't close any possibility that I can be wrong here but u seem hit my argument directly by ignoring the substance and call me as troll.

so tell me, what is Troll?

I'm still trying to understand why Muslims from around the world attacked and killed Americans over a movie made by an Egyptian man using money from Egypt who just happened to live in America.

Well for starters the claim of "Muslims from around the world" is quite the exaggeration. The only deaths of Americans occurred in Libya, which you might note contains a lot of people still armed and agitated over a brutal and bloody civil war. Second, they did not have all the facts at the time and neither did we really. Third, there is little doubt that they were lied to by people with political motives as to the details of the movie.

And last but not least, a whole lot of people in the west have been joying in pissing off Muslims by attacking Mohammad, not because they needed cartoons of him, not because of a genuine interest in Mohammad, but just to piss off as many Muslims as they could.

In no way do I support Muslims going crazy over depictions of Mohammad. Its stupid. But neither will I support bullies who joy in making people angry over their own stupidity. We may have the freedom of speech. But that does not mean we should be irresponsible with it. Knowing where a person's buttons are does not mean you should push them at every opportunity.

Plenty of Americans share some responsibility for what happened. Remember Draw Mohammad Day? Muslims did not get the message about freedom of speech. The only got the message of utter contempt for their most precious beliefs, stupid as those beliefs may be. You reap what you sow.

But neither will I support bullies who joy in making people angry over their own stupidity. We may have the freedom of speech. But that does not mean we should be irresponsible with it. Knowing where a person's buttons are does not mean you should push them at every opportunity.

Nice put over here. And note, it is human nature to protect their sancity, as also the concept of dignity the sense of protective it also derive from this. As son protect the dignity of their parents, parents protects the safety for their sons, men protect the dignity of their women. This is crucial for human and it universally understand.

What media and the glowing political box (tv) educate peoples not to understand is how the muslim treasure their religion and their prophet more than their treasure themselves and their parents. For us Muslim parents come After God and the Prophet, while religion it also above parent. Just imagine if someone spit at their mother, or mocking their dad every day, I think their sense of dignity will make him react that human nature, also the muslim are human, and many of us now include the revert that raise and born in US, UK, Canada.

After all the tragedy, if peoples still count it as tragedy, on millions of muslim civilian die on occupation, this action, dishonoring the very sancity of the muslim is nothing but putting a fire in a ocean of oil, then it "BOMB", and peoples confuse, "why they explode?" and they ask themselves "why they explode?" and they ask us "why you explode" and the funny things is they keep repeating it again and again, and keep surprising again and again with the worster outcome of the consequences they never learn and keep suprising.

Just keep hit the button. And the freedom of speech will be boomerang that strike directly to US. The weapon will eat its master. All of this gift them nothing but lost.

Is there any religion in the world over which you have not appointed yourself the arbiter of who is and who is not a "true" member, Mark? It is very arrogant.

Is there any religion in the world over which you have not appointed yourself the arbiter of who is and who is not a "true" member, Mark? It is very arrogant.

I only do this with Christianity and Islam. I don't know or care much about Buddhism, Shinto , Wiccanism, Hinduism, etc. I am not a spiritual man. The only reason I have studied so much about Christianity, Judaism and Islam is because they are frequent hot topics of debate and allegations of co-hatred.

I see your accusation of arrogance and raise you an accusation of stupid among those who don't know jack about the religion they claim. Nobody seems to be quite as bad as those ignorant Afghans who can't read Arabic but condemn translations of the Koran, but there are a slew of close seconds on both sides. You need serious help if you can't see that.

Maybe you would like to withdraw your accusation of arrogance now? Or do you really believe a majority of people claiming to Christian or Muslim really know so awful much about their faith?

How many early Muslims or Christians were literate or had access to their Scriptures? I guess you dismiss them as not being "true" members of their faith either for not having been able to read them. At any rate, it is doubly arrogant of you to dismiss the Afghans as "stupid" for having an opinion on a matter of their own faith which is no concern of yours. You're starting to strike me as a bit of an intolerant bigot on religious matters.

How many early Muslims or Christians were literate or had access to their Scriptures?
It does not matter. You missed the point. It does not matter what they read. It matters what they say and do. I judge what they say and do by what I read in their Holy books.
I guess you dismiss them as not being "true" members of their faith either for not having been able to read them.
How can I judge so many people as a whole that died over a thousand years ago?? I tend to think there were more true Christians among them though, people who believed so much they offered themselves up to the Romans for martyrdom until the Romans finally started saying "No thanks!" But I can't really guess at numbers. Nobody can. Its too long ago and too poorly documented.
At any rate, it is doubly arrogant of you to dismiss the Afghans as "stupid" for having an opinion on a matter of their own faith which is no concern of yours.
Since when did something being my concern or not determine my right to judge stupidity? Stupid is stupid mate. Its hardly precluded by the right to be stupid, or the right to hold a stupid opinion!
You're starting to strike me as a bit of an intolerant bigot on religious matters.
I am intolerant of stupid. And yes, when it comes to religion, there is a whole lot of stupid going on.
I call it like I see it. Both Christianity and Islam are sometimes worthy of applause and sometimes of booing. Same for those claiming to be Christians and Muslims.

It is one thing to treasure one's own faith, but a completely different thing to hold others to the same standards; those who do not share the same faith.

It is not my belief that the prophet can't be drawn or made jokes about. I do not believe the quran is sacred and cannot be used for inappropriate things I leave to your imagination.
Yet all muslims hold me to this as an obligation. For me, that is more than one bridge too far. I do feel I have the right to do all those things when I deem them necessary or desired.

Understand that I personally won't do these things out of respect for my fellow human beings, just as I wouldn't for any sacred whatsoevers of any belief. But this is, and should always be, a choice. I do hope one day, tasteful jokes about the prophet will be possible (just like anything else).

I don't hold one standard over my faith, that is out of context I'm afraid. I just stating not to dishonor other sancity. While burning scripture is universally and commonly known is not a form of joke or an other form to respect other, I urge you to sincere on your argument because what happen in US is universally understand as an act of dishonoring and an act of hatred both in speech (verbally) and expression (action).

The argument that been going on now not at the point that this act arguably a form of hate speech and hate expression because that is something that already fix and understand as a hate speech and hate expression. But the argument are both of these act also part of US freedom of speech and freedom of expression, that is the argument, we should start from there not from questioning or try to justify this act relatively not the act of hate. In that case I already state my counter at my post above.

It is not my believe that your mother is a respectful person that should to be treat respectfully. So instead of that I treat her with disrespect by mocking her, slandering her, burning and spitting her photograph in public and call all of her son animal. Is it sound good for you? Now if it not sound good for you if someone mock at your mother, so it also not sound good at all to muslim if someone mock at their prophet and their scripture. Also not sound good for the Jew and Hindust if someone mock at their Yahve or Visnu and burn their Vedha or Torah. Try to burn Vedha and make the video, I think there will be riot in India, as it still fresh in our mind there was a riot in India that kill many muslim and christian also many nun been rape.

If one wants to live side by side in multi-cultural manner respecting other culture and difference is a common answer for the variety and diversity problem, this is something that can unite the colorful individual and group. But that just talk, non has heart enough or honest enough to live within the multi-cultural society.

Now you talking about understanding and respect of your fellow human being by advocating the burning of Quran and mocking Muhammad (saw) by cartoon as tasteful jokes, I'm sorry I don't think burning books is an act of civilize individual that live in civilize society, burning books is contra intellectual and undoubtedly uncivilized. Civilize and respectful civilization or individual gain the respect by giving respect of other, it will not work only one way without the other.

How early that you referring? in the time of Khulafah Rosyidin? in the time of Abbassid? Ummayyad? and what is the purpose of this question if I may ask?

I guess you dismiss them as not being "true" members of their faith either for not having been able to read them.

I guess you are wrong, what I catch is Islam by definition is a teaching that in Quran and Hadith. While things that muslim do that have no correlation with Quran and Hadith it can't be blame to be inspire by Islam or to be taken to generalize a huge muslim population. While this is what happen now aday. I don't take a mutilation case in US or London and generalize it as London culture or as Evangelist culture. And also a genocide that been done by UK and Spain in history as part of evidence on how savage European is. But peoples do generalize the mutilation in Pakistan as something Islamic while that is a very ignorance and great slander, and there many example that are too much to be put here.

I am not justifying anything. And I am not just talking about burning and mocking. Even if I were to draw the prophet in a positive way, many would be offended. They see me not doing that as an obligation, not a form of courtesy.
This was the point I made.

In your previous post you stated respect for family is universal for human beings. Respect for others' families is just as universal. You know this is something we both believe. I do not demand of you to respect my mother, you do that yourself, as any reasonable human being would. Yours is therefore not a valid counter-argument. Mine still stands about the prophet and the quran.
You could make a good joke about my mother without me being offended, btw. In fact here in Belgium among the youth there is a tradition on "your mother is so (insert negative trait), that ...(insert witty remark)"-jokes. They are considered juvenile but some are pretty good ;)
As long as a joke is witty and well thought of, I would applaud it. Obviously there are differing opinions on what's actually a good joke, but every society has standards on what's acceptable.

You might have read I specifically stated I -personally- wouldn't do any of those things. And I do not advocate anything. I defend the rights of an individual in a free country. It is not the same thing. What another does in his time is beyond my power as an individual. I would frown upon book bbqs, but that's it.
You talk about mutual respect, yet you continue to demand things from others that are not outside the rules for anyone in western culture. Yet western culture does not demand anything of you, that is not universally accepted among humans. Who exactly is being disrespectful here?

This was the point I made.

I don't think not burning Vedha and Torah as an obligation, but it is a common sense on living with harmony with other culture, believe and peoples. Obligation is something that u must do and accept, we don't put that in your laps, but you throw that directly to our face that we must accept and stare when our sancity our Quran been burn and our prophet been drawn in a mockery way (we talking about the fact, they draw it to ignite and to piss the muslim, why you reject this simple fact?) and we must accept this miss-treatment, because Freedom of Speech say so.

It is already more then a thousand year muslim holding this principle and there no incident until in the middle of 21 century a bunch of Islamophobs start to try to go against the muslim sancity just to mock them. While we lead the world of 3 continent, from Granada, Sicily, Hungaria, till Africa, and we able to establish a community that treat other with respect and courtesy in the multi cultural society as Nietzsche address about the civilization of Andalus, also Goethe, also Toynbee. Christian have christian court and not judge by Islamic issue in their law affair, Jew have a Jews court that settle by Torah and Talmudic law, can u point me which country in this modern day that apply and respect the custom of minority like how it apply in Islamic civilization?

A true freedom not come without border, true freedom come with border. Border of respect other territory of sancity, difference terms of morality and believe. While the arrogancy of western imperialist state show no respect of other culture and believe, instead of what they believe of freedom of speech. You the one who choking this freedom of speech upon us. While we want nothing instead of to be live alone, but you wont.

This drawing of the prophet, mockery, burning of the Quran, is an act of bully. Still like an old imperialist, a bullies that rob someone land, disgracing their sancity, dishonoring their women, and preaching them about true and gospel, like know they preach us about freedom and democracy and force it upon us with war and occupation.

Look surround you, that is the truth but exactly what happen.

I will not mocking someone parents with dirty words, that will be against my standard. Whom am I to speak the one who carry them 9 month in her stomach with hardship, shed tears and blood for them, put up their life for them, and carry them with love and caring, and still love them even after they grow and left her even forget about her. Whom am I to speak ill against a woman role as mother infront of their son? I know that culture as well, peoples here show it on tv on how they mocking one and another disrespecting other parents and start to apply it around their community. Its not common but it exist also. The point that I want to make here is, if you agree parents is a sancity for you, you will not let other to treat her with disrespect pass from the border, and you say it yourselves.

You also will not try to find someone on the street and talk directly in his face bad things about his mother, because you will get an aggressive reply on him mostly verbally but also it can also physically. That is not something not normal, it is a nature of human to protect something that important for him, as it is a package with his honor and dignity.

And a good person, will not dishonor other and will not do what other don't like. This is a simple ethics even moral.

A bully that mocking a poor kid when a poor kid get angry and say "stop mocking me!" and the bully say "you should accept, this is my mouth I free do say what I wish, why you demand me to stop while I'm not demand you anything". That is a clear fallacy.

No argument here.

Also very true. This is why my freedom ends where another's begins. (see below)

It's good if you don't think to burn about it, because you know that is wrong things to do. I know you know it.

You misunderstood me. No one should accept being mocked. But everything needs to be in proportion.
What you fail to see is that freedom of speech (and action) does come with responsibility for one's own words. In my country, no one will respect you if you mock someone. But it is not really a crime. It becomes a crime when your mocking hinders this other's freedom to express himself. And this mocked person commits himself a crime when he becomes violent because of being mocked.

Burning a book is not a crime here. In my opinion, a quran is just another book. Just like the bible, the vedah, the torah, and just like the book I've written myself. By all means, burn it if that means you bought it ;)
Its ink print is not divine, just chemicals. The pages are made of bleached wood. And so on.
This is why a quran burns just like any other book. Basic reaction with the atmosphere's oxygen.

I do not defend the actual act of burning anything to state a message. An American flag, a quran, I see no fundamental difference. Both mean a lot to a lot of people.
But I will always defend someones right to do this. But the person doing it will be responsible for the consequences. Just like those who feel offended, are responsible for their own reaction.
By all means, every true muslim should feel offended when someone burns a quran. Just like every tiny-bit-patriotic American should when someone burns a stars 'n stripes.

Somehow, burning a quran becomes some sort of divine crime, far more serious than the burning of any other book. So much so that many muslims see extreme violence as a legitimate answer. And this is a problem. The proportionality is gone completely.
That's what I mean when I say muslims want non-muslims to see a quran as not-just-another-book. It is your right to see it as not another book, but is my right to see it another way. Just like it is my right to draw "the prophet", it is my right to draw Jesus, to draw a tree with flowers, to draw sexual pictures,...
This is called freedom of expression.

No argument here.

Also very true. This is why my freedom ends where another's begins. (see below)

And so on.

Well you are here forcing on your definition of freedom of expression with our definition of freedom of expression, in Islam peoples have right and freedom to express themselves, if you look at the early muslim society. I will go down to history; if you want, give an example, I can do that if you want me to do so.

And we also have our own definition of freedom of speech. As the Jew come to Umar Ibn Khatab (ra) to make a protest on how was the government ruling violating his freedom of belief, which later Umar Ibn Khatab (ra) sent a latter that was telling to the governor ''straighten your behavior now or it will be straightened by law.''

So we do have freedom of speech and expression on our own border, as you also make your own border for what is the freedom of expression and what is the freedom of speech. But the thing is, your border includes everything that it even includes to protect hate speech, hate expression, and mockery also dishonoring others' believes and sacred conduct ; by verbal and action.

Here I quote your words :

No argument here.

This is your answer for my argument that I'm not obliged to make you obey us, who am I to pull you into something? Because not burning Torah and Vedha is not a kind of Obligation but it is a basic moral and ethics on respecting others and living in a good multi cultural society, your answer is ; no argument, good it means you agree.

After this, you go back again to basic; you are saying that for you the Torah ,Vedha also Quran is only a book for you nothing holy about it, so if you buy that book, you can burn it and put it on tv and make a declaration, or burn it infront of the eyes of the muslim.

The answer of that is forever I will be disagree. As do all peoples know something very wrong about this act while they protect this act in the absurd way of freedom of speech which also has its own double standard, where is the freedom of speech when one of the ex US marine was caught and put in prison just because sounding his disagreement in facebook?

Where is the freedom of speech and expression for those peoples who were hold in Guantanamo bay, Abu Gharib, without any court and had been stripped for their rights to speak and from the transparency and most of them was released years later due to cannot be proved to any terrorist activities but they have already suffered torturement, punishment and humiliation for years in prison?

where is the freedom of speech? Don't preach me freedom of speech on expression about burning Quran and drawing prophet that are clearly evil actions, while the true freedom of speech and expression of the detainee that have been held with injustice you don't even give a damn about it.

And again, don't dream a world where muslims are happy to being bombed, killed, raped, pillaged, manipulated, slaughtered, but they suddenly got angry because of this event.

This event only a trigger of accumulation of crime that done by US, accumulation of double standard of accusing the good and covering the bad.

If you still want to draw and do what ever u want, then don't surprise with the consequences. Freedom of speech by US definition is not a divine law that was given by God from Gibrael from heaven, so everybody can despise it and disagree with it and it is nothing to be proud of, it is politically dirty and silly.

So when you do that things, and we are now in the era of information, it will effect other places of the world that peoples hold different value than yours, that will punish your government for not punishing you.

While what they want is so simple; leave us alone, don't burn our Quran, let us wear hijab, don't draw our prophet, but you don't even give them that tiny space of land do u? where is your heart? where is your tolerance and sympathy for the differences? Such an egoist ethics that u hold.
