Monbukagakusho Undergraduate 2015

Chancey posted a good site on the line group.
Grade 10 Mathematics
Just type grade 11 and 12 in the search box at the bottom.
Well done though at least you can do some of the math questions as most are too tough for me, you should join the Line group because there is some useful Math notes and people will help if you ask.
Thank you, that's helpful!

And I also can't seem to find any exams after 2010 so it would be great if anybody could post them here or send them privately

Can someone please explain this problem to me?
If three straight lines x+2y-1=0, x-y+2=0 and ax-y+3=0 meet at one point, then a=?
This question is from 2013 undergraduate exam, math A. The answer is a=2, but how did it become 2? I've tried all sort of things but i can't get the right answer. Help please :(

you use either use substitution or elimination to get rid of one of the variables. :D It is really simple!
Systems of Linear Equations: Solving by Substitution

where did you find this exam i have been looking for it along time ago , may you please give me the link ?

x+2y-1=0 (1)
x-y+2=0 (2)
ax-y+3=0 (3)
(1)-(2) = 3y-3=0 <=> y-1=0 <=> [y=1 ]
2*(2)+(1) = 3x+3=0 <=> [x= -1]
now you have to insert the vlaue of (x,y) in (3) <=> -a-1+3=0 <=> -a +2 =0 <=> a= -2
a= -2

Oh i finally got it! Thank you very much XD i tend to make simple things complicated. :joyful:
hmm how about this problem (if its not much of a bother :sorry:)
let a and b be two solutions of the equation x^2-x+4=0 then b/a+a/b=?
i tried quadratic formula but the answer was different ;;

That's simple too
a/b + b/a = (a^2 + b^2)/(a*b)
=[(a^2 + b^2 + 2ab)-2ab]/(a*b)
=[(a+b)^2-2ab]/ab
all you need to know now is that in a quadratic function Ax^2+Bx+C
the sum of the roots a+b=-B/A
and the product of roots a*b=C/A

Hi! hope your doing well! I'm from Chile and I'll be applying for the undergraduate scholarship, I have practiced for several weeks doing math exercises and studying chemestry and biology, but still I've some questions about the syllabus of the subjects. It's a rough path but we may succeed if our goals are clear! so get our lazzy asses up and study as damn crazy people!

Greetings to everyone!

Since you are doing Chemistry and Biology like me what career do you plan on studying?
I have a pdf with the required math syllabus......the others I cant really help, sorry.

Has everyone that has requested the past exams received them, if not I will try to send them if possible to you. If you require help with Math or feel like helping others I suggest you Join the Line group drewa started.....

Hello guys :D

I'm applying for MEXT scholarship 2015, too :D

I want to ask you about the answers for reasons for choosing to major, what kind of impression do you have of Japan?, description of desired occupation to be taken up after returning home, etc... Is it necessary to write essays to answer these questions or just short answers?

It's middle of May, so I have to quickly complete my application. Hope someone answer me. Thanks in advance!

By the way, is there any difference between Field of study and Kind of field? Because in the application form they write "Field of study and reasons ", and "What kind of field are you planning to study in Japan?". I don't know what I should write for the second one :?

And I'm so confused now. I wish to study Liberal Arts in English program, so I intend to apply for direct placement. But when I mailed to some universities which offer Liberal Arts to ask if they accept direct placement, they said I had to contact to the Japanese Embassy in my country for information about Japanese schools with direct placement, then I did. However, the embassy didn't give me a satisfied answer. I have just found a list on the website of Japanese Embassy in US, unfortunately there is no Liberal Arts course there 😭

And I also have a big trouble with recommendation letter :unsure: My teacher doesn't agree to write a recommendation letter for me, because the leadership doesn't allow her to do that (my university hasn't had any student studying abroad before!). I don't know how to get a recommendation letter. Any advice?

Anyway, nice to meet you guys!

Short answers are good..just make it sound like you really want this and that you're excited about it ^^

I was told to just write my three majors again in that category..
I can't really help you there but I'm sure there's something.. >.<

Can you get one from a highschool teacher? It doesn't necessarily need to be from your university ^^

Nice to meet you too! :3

Thank you!

Maybe I will ask a teacher at my high school for recommendation letter. But actually I think it is difficult, because I graduated 1 year ago, and I didn't have close relationships with teachers when I studied at high school. But I will try :D

I really want to study in English, but we can't choose English courses after completing the preparatory school, can we?

Aah,in that case you should just try asking the nicest one xD ^^
I think you can still go to the universities you want after completing the prep year but I'm not really sure >.<

Does anyone has the tests from previous years? I only have seen the ones til' 2010, so if smbody has the ones from 2011 to 2014, would be kind and send me the exams, please? :?

Hi! I've used the syllabus of the past years and it matches pretty well with the new ones, anyway thank u for the worry 🙂. Hopefully medicine or biology. If u have the past years test, could u send them to me? mail adress: [email protected]. Greetings!
p.d.: What are u planning to study?

I will try to send the 2012 and 2013 exam papers.......Wow medicine I hear the competition is really tough in that area Good Luck! as for me I am hoping for just Biology.

I'll be really thankful if u could send them! By the way, if u place first medicine and then biology, does it affect ur application? meaning that if Embassy will consider in different ways the score in the tests if I choose medicine instead biology in first place?

I sent the exams did you get them?I,m not sure what you mean.......but im guessing that if your scores aren't high enough for medicine or if they don't have any space left in that field they will take you for Biology but they will probably consider someone who chose Biology as their first choice first before someone who had it as their second choice like a normal University would.Is that what you were asking?

Hi everyone! How is it going?
I found out about this schoolarship way too late, but, I'm going to give it a shoot anyways C:

So, guys, I have a question: Is it necessary for the recommendation letter to be writen by a high school/university teacher? Or it could be writen by my English teacher (she's my teacher at a private institute of English).
Because I've already graduated from high school (2 years ago) and I'm not attending university this year, so... Do you know if that's possible?

Thank you in advance!

ps: mathematics test, ugh...!

I'm pretty sure it has to be a high school or university teacher.. >.<
I suggest you ask at your embassy or consulate though,in case you can ask your English teacher ^^
