They should only ask for a physical after the selection process as medical bills are extremely expensive, to pay so much and possibly end up not being selected for even the examination process is such a waste.
This whole experience has been a tough and stressful one as I almost applied with the old forms as I didn't realize they were out of date a few months ago(filled them out and was about to post it) and collecting the documents is kinda harsh too if you live far from your high school.......but I guess it will all be worth it possibly if we get selected!

Hmm, here in America I heard they contact us by email on when the testing and interviewing is which is generally around the first week of August for us. So I suggest to ask your embassy for a general timeline of the application process.
For example, for my area it's:
July- Applications due
August- Testing and Interviews
February- Scholarship recipients notified
March- Accommodation, plane ticket, etc. sorted out
April- Depart to Japan
I believe that's the general timeline for my area. So just look on your embassy's website/call and ask how the process usually goes.Good luck! Hope to see you in Japan next April

Thank you guys! I have to study Chemical, Math, English, Japanese and Biology.

The test is difficult? I mean I kind of sucks in math...So, if I do well in the others subjects I got a chance to go to the next step of the program?

Some people find it difficult. But I guess it should be hard because the Japanese are willing to spend a lot of money on you so they would want to make sure you're smart.
I've heard from some people on a Facebook group that Math plays a huge part for the Natural Sciences. Honestly, I can't say for sure if you stand a chance or not. But we're all trying our luck here.

Honestly, I hope they send the exam to the consulate general in my country so I don't have to fly to Trinidad just to write the exam...

Hmmm that's really weird, they could possibly send the exams but what about the interview, would the people at the consulate do it?
Just be prepared for worst case scenario and prepare to go to Trinidad Keshant so it wont take you by surprise and waste all your hard work.
Thanks for the 2012 and 2013 past exams really helpful, things seem to be easier than before hopefully we all get something similar......does anyone know Japanese I have been learning it for quite a while yet I still cant do the Japanese exam.(its the equivalent of JLPT N5 right?)

From what I understand, you give the recommender the form along with an empty envelop. On the envelop, you will write your name and address. After the person has sealed the recommendation form in the letter, he will write his signature across the seal to prove that it has not been tampered with.

Really, really sorry for filling up this page with my questions but I keep stumbling on more problems!!!!! On the guidelines it says you need 1 original recommendation form and 1 copy but if its sealed in an envelope how do you make a copy? and even your school transcripts you need 1 original and 1 copy......do you make 2 copies take one to your school and get it stamped and that makes it an original because if I hand over my originals what am I supposed to do for South African universities.

Keshant you should be prepared to travel to Trinidad like how Brendz said. My consulate is far away too. it's probably like an hour and a half drive. But I hope you get it though especially if you're going through all that work of flying there.

On a blog that [MENTION=61700]Ghydaa[/MENTION] posted in the forum, one of the comments claimed that the exam is around N1-N2 which is the highest level of Japanese. N5 is the lowest level. Luckily, my Consulate General is about a half hour drive. I've emailed the embassy and asked if I have to fly to Trinidad or if the exam and interview will be conducted through the Consulate... Now I wait :\

I believe that you need to ask the recommender to make a copy of the Recommendation Form and insert both original and copy into the envelope before he/she seals it and signs across the seal. As for the transcripts, not sure about that area... Can't you request more than one transcript from the school?

That cannot be correct there are MEXT scholarship receivers who knew not a single word of Japanese and it says in the guidelines that you must be willing to learn it..........don't let this stop you if that's what they say fill in the attachment and apply for direct placement, they cant say you need to be fluent then!!!!!

You just have to do a little more work and research what Japanese Universities offer Medicine or Biology in English and apply for direct placement to those (there's rather a few that offer English classes) but you shouldn't have to do this I wonder whats up with your embassy?

Ok, that's weird and scary at the same time. I don't think that's correct. I think you will need to have complete fluency in japanese if you are applying for direct placement because you won't have to go through the one year compulsory training which would have made medicine 7 years instead of 6.
Ask them to explain it properly.

You don't need to be fluent for direct placement, if you apply to be placed directly into a Japanese taught class you do, but not if you apply for the English classes read the guidelines.......just saying as an option if they give you no choice but something is definitely not right with the situation.

I also called my embassy (in Trinidad) and they told me the same thing which has me confused. I'm not too sure if its something specific to this region or if it's just their misunderstanding. From what I know,the majority of the people who get the scholarship don't know any Japanese..And in any case,why would they have the 1 year of preparation if you were expected to already be fluent? ^^
