I believe it's the original and one copy that you need. Check the guidelines.
As far as I know, no, it must be the principal or teacher of your high school. Try calling your embassy just in case though.
 
I graduated high school 2yrs ago & my principal has been retired.
but he gave me my testimonial in form of letter, he said I can also use that as a recommendation from me.
my school is a government owned school & I doubt if they issue letter on a letterhead paper.

The new principal wouldn't want to recommend me.
 
You could ask one of your old teachers, it doesn't have to be the principal.
I had graduated one year prior to the first time I applied and the principal had changed but it wasn't an issue.
Just give it a try if you can.

They use a prescribed form - be sure to bring that your checkup.
You will then have to for chest x-rays and blood tests. Pretty standard stuff required for student visas. Don't leave it to the last minute, though!
 
Hi guys, I'm from Guatemala and our embassy just announced the 2017 scholarship so I'm basically freaking out. I feel pretty confident with my english but the math test seem to be in another level. What are you guys studying for math? I want to study Politics in Japan btw
 
Well, if it makes you feel better, I need to start from grade 7 math and work my way up.. ^^;
Though I've kinda got the hang of simple quadratic equations now xD

Hi everyone I wanted to ask you a couple of questions if possible, so I really want to go study abroad but especially in Japan. So I want to apply for the MEXT scholarship of which applications are due by the end of May,I was wondering how hard do you think I would have to study to get the scholarship I have still not decided on what I want to study but I'm really like really terrible at Maths not because I don't like it but because I didn't really care for it since early school so I couldn't really catch up.. But anyways I pick up things fast so I could still study, I wanted to ask you something regarding some English certificates I have and about the letter of recommendation, so first of all I have 2 different English proficiency certificates, Edexcel proficiency and Michigan proficiency will these papers play in my favor when applying ? If yes how much will they affect their decision. Secondly, the recommendation letters can I get more than one ? If so Will a recommendation letter from my English teacher(has multiple teaching centers) and is a pretty big name will do? Also a letter of recommendation from a teacher at the high school I graduated from? Or do I have to go straight to the principal? Also you think that if starting from today till end of May studying non-stop maths will be enough?

As for how hard, well, it is quite hard though I'm not sure what they want exactly. Though they've only ever taken one Greek undergraduate and that was in 2012 or so.

English certificates aren't required to apply so no, they can't help you.

You can only get one recommendation and it can be by either the principal or just one of your high school teachers.

I don't know if it'll be enough but you can certainly make plenty of progress by that time.
Also, our exams take place mid-June so you have at least another two weeks after the deadline to study~
 
I see i guess it would help that my Japanese is as fluent as my english but I decided to stay away for the moment I mean I could probably pass the exam but I just checked up and for undergraduate you need a lot more than just maths English and Japanese I would probably score very high and maths I would do decent after I study but I don't think I have enough time to study and "refresh" my memory on Physics/chemistry etc since It's been about 2 years since I last studied those things I will probably go to Sweden as I planned and there I will stay at a cousin's house where i will be able to study 24/7 for next year :) so I wish everyone who is taking the exams good luck and I guess see you next year :)
 
You only take those if you're applying for natural sciences so it depends on your major.

Hmm I see so one more question let's say I picked something that requires English/Japanese and math if I were to score perfect on English/Japanese then also score perfect in the interview how much would I need to score on maths?
 
Couldn't tell you really, I don't really know. But above average at least..
 
And what about the recommendation letter is it from my teacher ?? Or should i contact a japanese professor???
