MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation

Hi Guys,. Thank you so much for such a powerful knowledge sharing. Advanced New Year Wishes to all of you.
I went through all the pages, It is very much informative and cleared most of my questions. However, I need some clarity regarding applying University Recommendation at multiple universities.

In my case, I have already applied for UTokyo for University recommendation 2018. Does this mean, I cannot apply for any other universities for University recommendation? I want to apply for Yokohama National University as well since I am already in touch with one of the professor. But my question is whether I can apply for Univ recommendation at YNU or not? I heard that, we cannot apply to multiple universities for univ recommendation and our application will be disqualified.

If I consider the worst case, if I do not get selected at UTokyo (and did not apply for other universities), then I will be left with no other option but to wait for one more year.

Could anyone please give some clarity on this.

Thank you so much in advance...

Hi, did anyone already got any reply about University Recommendation screening?

according to last year, it should be around now right?

Sorry to hear that. May I know what major or program you applied to?

I applied for civil engineering pgp. what about you J.K.?
I really wanted to go to kyodai this year but I failed, is there any other way I can apply for September intake. I am planning to give entrance exam in August but this one also takes time. If anyone has any idea about university admissions and opportunities available please let me know.
I have already started searching for other private scholarships and I am also taking Japanese language lesson but it will be great if you guys share your experience about getting into the university.

Hi, I applied to the Informatics program. As far as I know, most private scholarships require fluency in Japanese and not cover full tuition fee and living expenses. How about embassy recommendation? Though it is for next April intake.

yes it's for 2019 intake. Either way, I have to give the entrance exam that's why I am planning to give entrance exam in August.

thanks! and congratulation you got the scholarship. Hope to meet you soon in Kyodai.
Thanks but I haven't get the scholarship yet. It is just the screening result that I am recommended by the school. Hopefully everything goes well

Hi pals, is there anybody here applying to Hiroshima University through MEXT university recommendation? Please let me know :)

Can somebody clarify me about this statement, please-
"Must have completed 15 years of school education in a foreign country and must be recognized by
the Graduate School of Engineering,
Kyoto University as having earned specified credits with
excellent grades". especially the underlined part:emoji_pray:. Is it necessary that your previous university should have exchange programme or any connections with Kyoto University otherwise we are not eligible to apply for kyodai entrance exam for pgp?

I guess it will be better if your previous university has connection with Kyodai, but if you can't find any U to U program of your previous university with Kyodai, I think it still be okay as long as your previous university has been recorded on world university ranking.

Well, I've got same conditional requirement when applying Hirodai.

Thanks, Amiyoku! Do I have to learn Japanese for the exam even my master's programme is in English and how many students clear the exams?

Well, I think you don't have to learn japanese if your study is in english. I mean: dont stress this out. You need to learn japanese of course, but for your daily life later.
Have you check the exam structure? Is it only paper based exams? Any interview session or focus group discussion?
Different structure needs different strategy.
You need to focus on your material (anything related to your study subject) if it just paper based test. But if there are some interview or FGD section in your exams, I think a lil bit Japanese will do good, even it just at the way you call them (for example: calling call the judges 'sensei' inspite of Sir, or adding -san after the japanese name, I found that they like it).
I found that university entrance exams sometimes are different one another, even it in the same university. Some of my friends were accepted by only direct interview with their sensei. But in my case, I apply Hirodai through different program, which the test included paper presentation, FGD, and interview examination in front of 9 Sensei.
So, I think you have to know deeper how kyodai will deliver the test to you.

Thank you Amiyuko for the information, it's really helpful. :emoji_slight_smile::emoji_thumbsup:

Hi everyone,
Hope all are doing well.
I have applied for Mext scholarship-kobe university by professor recommendation for PhD.
I just recently got informed that I have passed the university internal selection and must be waiting for government( or Mext institute) to have the final results which will come around June. I am so nervous because I dont know if i will pass or not and if not, I want to apply through the Japan Embassy in my country.
does anyone know how much is the chance to win the scholarship for final screening?
and is it allowed to apply for both while i still do not know the results?
prior thanks for helping me🙂:

No, don't apply for both because you'll end up rejected by both.
Congratulation for being selected as MEXT candidate of Kobe University! We're on the same stage. All we have to do now is waiting..and praying.. and waiting..
