MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation

Are youu

Are you applying via Embassy or University Recommendation track? @Himitsu

I am applying pgp program. I was once interviewed by my prospective academic advisor prior to the scholarship notice. But I am not sure enough is that already counted as the entrance examination or nope.

My university has asked me to take exam. I have completed my applications yesterday and dispatched. Looks like this month would be test. What I know is that it will be sort of interview.
Oh, what campus are you applying to?

Hello, I also applied under pgp. Maybe I can share my experience. I was interviewed with prospective supervisors before I submitted the application form. After final candidate announcement, I got 9 questions from 3 sensei. Then I got the certificate of acceptance.

Oh, you must be a senpai here. Thanks for your information. I do appreciate it.

As far as I know, for interviews, whether it is an email-based or Skype interview, are usually handled during the first quarter of the year (in my case around February). These interviews comprised of 3 sets of emails where each set has 3 unique questions. That's what I've experienced from the University I've applied. I'm not sure if it differs to other schools. But since you've mentioned that you're a PGP applicant, then maybe there's a different process under your category? Were you interviewed already like the details I have mentioned above last February?

I was interviewed via skype on November last year only by my prospective supervisor. The interview was about the research I intend to conduct, etc. Then in December I started to apply pgp program. Maybe if the mext accept me, there would be another interview by 3 sensei like @Momokoala.
@Sakaggi, well probably that makes the difference. Thank you anyway

In that case, have you received a feedback from they saying that ypu were recommended for MEXT scholarship and you will have to wait
until mid-August for the results? @Himitsu

Well, I am not yet sure about anything because they told me that I will have to appear for Entrance exam for Masters degree course or else I would be considered as a research student.

Yes. They sent me letter that I am recommended for mext but the result will be announced on the first week of July.

In that case, I think all you need to do is wait for the announcement 'til July for PGP applicants like you. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure you'll get it. I'll pray for you too. :)

Great to hear from another Tohoku University nominated student. I just heard back from my professor today that I was successful in getting the MEXT scholarship.
I was specifically nominated by the School of Engineering.
Looking forward to seeing you up there.
