MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation

Hello there, I just came across this forum today and found it to be very helpful.
I have also been nominated by JAIST for university recommendation and my Professor told me that the results would be out in May. I am worried here as well.

My prof said it could be in june at max but his assistant said it would be by the end of may...
From my experience with the 1st screening announcement and previous year date, it should start around 17th or 18th

I was selected by the University I applied through general admission for the MEXT scholarship. They told me the official results by MEXT will only available by July, so until then I will follow procedures like a general student, like paying Admission Fee and Tuition for the First Semester and following visa procedures.

May I ask which university did you apply to? If final announcement is on july, that should be special recommendation... Most of us commenting here now is on general category.

I don't know of any such situation. I asked my professor about completing all these general formalities, however he said that I need to do it only after the MEXT result.

@Federico, according to Mr. Travis's website, if MEXT announces the results by the end of the May, it literally means "the last day of May". Moreover, @Tepanyakigo has also a point, there's a possibility that MEXT will be delayed to announce it by first week of June.

@Tepanyakigo is right. In totality, as per Travis's website, there are three MEXT reseasch student scholarship types: (1) General Category, (2) Priority Graduate Programs (PGP), and (3) SATREPS and e-Asia Categories.

I just filled up all the MEXT forms and sent them to the University and to which they responded that I would be referred to MEXT by the University and the result would be announced in May. And when I asked a fortnight back about the final announcement by MEXT, my Professor told that it would be in June or July.

Since your result is in may, it means your application is in general category. Beside there isn't much difference between the two once nominated for the scholarship.

I'm not sure because I filled up a research plan and detailed field of study. According to Mr. Travis, in PGP track, they ask field of study, but I am still not sure.

My professor informed me that the result from mext will be out in june, however the letter from international office states that it will be out by july and I was nominated for PGP course. So from what Travis wrote in his blog and the tentative dates I concluded that the only difference is when the result are announced once you have been nominated.
