I had applied to Nagoya Institute of Technology in Frontier Materials. Looks like their response in mail it seems everyone they applied for MEXT scholarship got the positive result. Don't worry,the result may vary according to the university but you will get the scholarship.Special recommendation from university probably get the scholarship unless you have flaws in your submitted papers.
I'm sure you'll get a positive result soon! I applied at Waseda University's Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies. See you all in Japan!

Is there anyone going to Tohoku University? Regarding the university recommendation, do my university need a linkage with Tohoku in order to get a university recommendation or not necessarily? Also, do we need to take the entrance exam for the admission?

Trying to answer your question,
Usually MEXT scholarship through university recommendation (university to university, U to U) is only for student from university which already has exchange agreement with the university you wish to apply.

So I suggest that you go to international office of your university and check whether your university has exchange agreement with Tohoku. If your university don't have agreement, you can apply to your university by embassy recommendation (government to government, G to G) instead.
I don't quite certain about the entrance examination, but based on my experience when applying to OU via university recommendation, after skype interview with my prospective professor, there were 3 other professors assigned to conduct entrance examination to me by email. After I finished the examination, the university then sent notification email which inform me that I passed entrance exam and selected as MEXT scholarship student candidate. However, other universities may have different methods.

Hi Armaan I would like to say congratulations to you and freinds who have been accepted by MEXT again. I wonder that how many percent of applicants in your program have been accepted by MEXT?. Are there anyone was rejected? I am waiting the result from Osaka University and waiting time is killing me. I would like to kmow how much hope for positive result?

Hello Cony,my university sent me an mail with null to and two of the administrator are in cc.They said you all have been selected for MEXT scholarship students. As far I know my university's quota was 5 and they applied for 5 students. As far I have been informed by former students that my university has a 100% successful record for MEXT scholarship. You can ask admission office about the result publishing timeline and their success rate. I guess this could make you a bit relax.

I contacted to my prospective professor after I join the meeting which he was invited speaker of that meeting and I known that there are scholarship for international student to study in Japan. After that I email to Professor to introduce myself, my experience in science and my research interesting.
Hi naomi-sang and JYTan. I have applied for different program from you but I will try to answer your question from my experience to apply MEXT scholarship through University recommendation (now I am waiting for the result announcement). I sent an email to professor to join his lab to introduce myself and told him my research experience and research interesting and tell him that I would like to join in his lab if I am selected from MEXT scholarship. At that time I think that my prospective professor did not give me a high confidence to success in MEXT scholarship because he told me to find other scholarships because there are many applicant for this course and scholarship. However, I still applied to this course even if I know it is low rate of success.
The processes were continued with three steps of selection. Primary screening, the committee will screen the candidates from application forms which I think it is the most difficult step because there are many candidates and high competitive. Unbelievably I passed this step and I then sent email to discuss with professor about the chance to join in his lab again if I am successful applicant. For my opinion, to apply in field of science, GPA, English score and international publications are very important. If you are selected from primary screening you will be interviewed from three or more independent committee to select as university nominees to proceed for the final step which nominees need to be reviewed by MEXT. And now I am waiting for the result of final step.

The uni said that they will send the documents for enrollment through EMS or DHL at the end of July. @incaroc @kalay @armaan, did you already receive these docs? If you did, what essentially are these documentary requirements? Do we have to submit our transcript of records, etc. again?
