MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation

This afternoon, I received an email from the administrative staff of the program which I applied via special recommendation. The content was about the reference books to be read in advance. At that time, I was blank because there is not yet result but the email told me to check books. Hul???. After calming down, I planned to write an email to ask about the result. Before sending my intended email, I receive the second email that I was just granted admission and have not been awarded their scholarship, the result will be notified soon. Again, I felt like in an upside-down state ) and that literally painful waiting is not yet done.

Same here. I even set the email notice on my current browser. Whenever emails come, the pop-up notices ring and appear at the right side of the monitor. It indeed makes me nervous when I hear its sound.
Today is Friday, last day of the first week in July but there is not yet news.

Looks like MEXT already released the results.

I just logged in on the Online Application portal of the uni which shows the status of my application. I think the last time I checked it was last weekend, and still showed a 'Screening session ongoing' status. Now it is already showing 'Final Results'.

I have yet to receive an email from the uni so I don't know if I got the scholarship on not. I will email them on Monday or Tuesday to ask about the change in my application status.

My nervousness is now on its peak I think I have to refrain from drinking coffee.

Hi guys, my first post here. Anyone here applying for IGP(A) Program Tokyo Institute of Technology and MEXT scholarship?

I heard that they will formally announce the result this month as well as sending us the necessary documentts via post for visa, dorm etc. Anyone got an official email and/or post?

Anyway, let's say you apply to this scholarship through university recommendation and the university admits you but you dont get the scholarship, is it possible to enroll anyway and apply next year or to try some other scholarship?
I'm asking this because there was this time when someone said that at the interview they asked if the person would enroll even without this scholarship.

I'm asking this because there was this time when someone said that at the interview they asked if the person would enroll even without this scholarship.

Just some personal randoms as your reference. I am not sure if most Japanese universities accept deferral or not. So in case of not getting MEXT, you may contact admission office of your university to check further information, whether they will allow your deferral (if they have admitted your application already) till next year and will receive your re-application or not. Regarding scholarship or funding, you also may check with the university to find out. Some professors may be interested in your application and support a little, such as tuition fee or monthly allowance though it is not surely a full scholarship.This time is in July, so it may be late to apply for some scholarships when it is a bit of a rush to September term. You may check JASSO scholarships at Scholarships for International Students in Japan -JASSO to see whether their deadlines validate or expire. Then if you do not get MEXT this year and you are flexible about the place of study (I mean, apart from Japan, you could choose EU, US, Korea...) you may re-apply for some scholarships, especially full scholarships, which will open in end-year months, for the next year's term.

I have talked to a professor and he's ready to take me, but not sure about results of MEXT...eagerly waiting..

Some university offers the MEXT scholarship (domestic selection). You can apply for this one after the enrollment. There are also scholarships from private company that you can apply too.

In general, you have to contact the school (or professor) and submit the necessary documents. They might ask you to take the entrance exam or interview. After that, the screening committee will select and nominate the successful candidates to MEXT directly.

I sent an email to International Student Affairs Section of OU last day to ask when the result will be released or other result was already released but I am unsuccessful applicant ? . I got the reply email this morning that the result has not been announced and please wait for a while. :dead:

There is still no news from university since they sent me an email last week, stating I have not been granted their scholarship at this stage as the result is not yet available.

Today I got email from the university which said that the announcement from MEXT is delayed. They said that the result is expected to be announced in mid or end of July

Hey guys. This morning I received an email from my university notifying me that MEXT chose me as a grantee (i.e. I passed) and that they (the university) will mail me the relevant documents by EMS on the 13th.
I suppose this means MEXT has already decided who will receive a scholarship, so expect something from your universities very soon! Stay strong!

I get email from the university I applied in this afternoon. They said that I have been selected for MEXT scholarship for Oct 2015 and the related documents will be sent by 13 July. I hope all of you will get good news!!!
