May I ask where have you heard it? And when the results were released?
I'm eagerly waiting for Hokkaido University results, so I'm kinda panicking a bit from what you just said. If it was today, maybe my professor just didn't contact me for now for some reason, but if it was yesterday or something I will really freak out.
I think it was yesterday or before that. But that was probably for the regular recommendation type.. Or maybe your professor is busy as of the moment..

I am sorry to hear that, Spcrome. But don't loose hope. You can try again next year, either through university recommendation or embassy recommendation.

Lacertoss last year I have submitted all requirements for embassy recommendation but I was not even asked to sit down for the exam. These are almost the same requirements that I have submitted for university recommendation this time around. I felt really bad last year because the exam was supposed to be the first round... I even called the embassy staff asking them for reasons why and they could not give any reason. I feel your pain. When I learned that notice of exam has been given and I did not receive any I was in disbelief and for the first time in a long time I cried. But other opportunities came. I just got back as an exchange student in Kyoto Uni and now I finally got the scholarship for Osaka Uni.

I know that MEXT was placing students at national universities whenever possible this year, to save money (my first-choice was private uni for embassy nomination, but got placed at second-choice national uni). Along with their recession recently, I guess the scholarship budget is tight...
