MEXT Scholarship 2014

My embassy just call me to tell me about the visa, we need first an usa visa so they will tramite it for us ( but we need to pay it)
I dont know if all the embassies help everyone with that, if someone is from south america like me, they should ask soon about it. :)
Yukari Ueno: a friend from my country will go to Osaka : D for undergrate program too

Hello! Its good to see people getting their acceptances! Congrats to those who made it!
I got my official letter (an email scan of it anyways, haven't received the hard copy yet) the other day! Apparently I wont find out what day I'll be leaving until around mid March, but I know its sometime in the first week of April.
Has anyone started applying for courses at their chosen uni yet? I sent in my documents to apply for my masters course (at Nagoya Uni) at the end of January, but apparently I'll be having an interview for it soon. I have no idea what kind of interview its going to be though. When I asked, I was told that there will be academic questions, so I think I might have to study for it!
Is anyone else doing something similar?

Anybody got accepted or refused from the mext scholarship for the MEM graduate program of Todai? They said the people would be informed by mid Feb. Nerves are very tense here XD

I am speaking about MEXT embassy recommendation! 😊

I also have not received my final confirmation (Toho Uni)... ☝

My advisor at Todai told me that there was no formal contact from MEXT yet but Todai has told them to start processing my application as if I'd already been accepted so maybe there is some delay with Todai.

Everyone I've talked to on the facebook group going to Todai as well has not received any final confirmation.

Are you going for the MEM program at todai? Are you also going with embassy recommendation or university?

Not going in the MEM program, going in the IST department but everyone I've been talking too is in different departments so it doesn't seem to be a department specific thing. It's embassy recommendation and someone else in my embassy has already received their confirmation so it does really seem to me like Todai has some kind of university-wide delay in the MEXT acceptances for some reason or another.

P.S. To clarify, I meant post graduate university-wide delay. I think the undergraduates have gotten their placements already.

I would like to know the reason of this delay. I am getting worried.

Applied for Todai also under the Graduate School of Agriculture and life sciences, still no reply yet from the embassy and mext. My adviser told me to wait until the end of Feb. Im worried about the cause of delay, and really feeling nervous about the result. Four Filipino friends of mine both got their results from the embassy last Feb 9. Two of them are going to Hokkaido and two are going to Kyoto . Any Todai graduate applicants here who got the result from embassy? Thanks!

Hello there! I have a question for the ones who won the Senshugakko scholarship.
In Argentina, We were told that we can choose the institute where we are going to study our specialities, but as far as I know it's not possible to do that. Do you know how it really is?
Thank you!

Hi guys, i'm literally new to this forum( just that i have always follow all the post periodically). Sorry asking a question so sudden when i just join this post, hope you all will not mind.

First of all, i'm from malaysia and may i know is getting a first class in Bachelor of Computer science ensure a much higher probability in getting MEXT scholarship? I plan to apply for this coming april and i have researched most of the information in regards to MEXT scholarship from their requirement and tests needed. As for the percentage of getting it, as i researched and seen from various sites, there was once a year where only a number of 20 applicants being offered with this great scholarship. From here on, it really shows me that how hard will it be to get offered. Is there anyone here a former or currently a scholars from MEXT to share some of your experience and hardship you went through in order to successfully got chosen, and as well as some tips on how to get this offer?

Hopefully i'm not demanding much and thanks in advance for any reply to my inquiry^^. Best of luck for current awaiting applicants.

I was told that we'll choose what schools we are going to apply for and MEXT will see if they accept us or not based on our performance in the 1st year.

Hey y'all~

Yesterday I was contacted about the plane tickets, it seems that I will be leaving on 1st of April via Helsinki! The best possible route from my country :D

Are we going to choose the university right before we are going to apply for the scholarship or after we have applied for the scholarship? There are still many questions that i am confused in, and i really hope that i can get guidance from the seniors here. Thanks in advance.

Edit: How are we suppose to calculate for GPA according to japanese universities? I have seen the application form that needs us to include the GPA. However, i'm only familiar with CGPA calculation and not japanese GPA calculation and what if i got A- and B+? Anyone mind to guide me on how to calculate using their formula. Thanks in advance.

Finally got final confirmation for Todai. Looks like people are getting it now. Has everyone else here who has applied to Todai for graduate studies gotten their confirmation?

I assume your applying for graduate studies because of your mention of getting a Bachelors. In the past I hear you had to get a conditional acceptance to the university as part of your original application. Now though you should not contact the university until after you've passed the first selection process which involves sending in your application, and then being invited to take an english and japanese test and an interview (However I recommend at least looking up the information before hand after being invited to the interview if not doing a bit of informal contact). After that you'll need to acquire a conditional acceptance from at least one university. After that you take your conditional acceptances, rank up to three in of them in order of your preference and send them to the embassy before their specified deadline.

About the GPA, my application never needed any GPA figures, they just wanted an official university transcript.

I think it was about time to start notifying us... Although I still haven't received any information from the embassy (still)...

Hello!!! The embassy sent me the Pledge for signing it yesterday :D
I dont know the final decission, but it seems I will go to Osaka!!

It's anyone going to the Kodaira International Student House in Tokyo? I have a few doubts about the location.
