MEXT Scholarship 2014

Why not fill in your form based on the fields of study you really want to take up? Search for each of the program names, see what non-Japanese institutions teach with regards to each one of them. Sure, it may not be the specific answer you want, but at least it should help you make an informed decision.

Hey, Nagoya is my first choice (grad school of languages and culture). The teacher accepted be, but I've yet to receive a response after sending the faculty my scanned documents (which is annoying, since I also asked them for their postal address and they haven't replied... weird, since they replied to most of my inquiries quite quickly).

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how many people are rejected in the secondary screening? I'm very worried.:?

It can be a bit worrying when they do that (take long to reply yet you previously got prompt replies). If its been more than a week, I'd recommend a small nudge - if necessary, rephrase your e-mail subject, send the documents again.
Luckily, when I sent an another email with my documents, some one replied, saying they would start discussions with my chosen professor, and work on my LoA. Now just waiting for a reply.

Heyya! Poster from the UK here. I've been nominated by my home Embassy as well and I'm incredibly confused about how to go about obtaining my LoA. I've been in touch with several professors about my proposal so I know that isn't a problem, but as far as getting the actual application sorted, I'm lost! The last thing I need is for the application packet to land up in the admissions office with someone who's never heard of me and assume I hadn't bothered contacting any teachers beforehand. . .

I've made a thread about this if you (or anyone else) would like to jump in with your thoughts. Passed embassy screening for MEXT postgraduate 2014 - what next?

Hey, congrats!

When e-mailing the grad school, I make sure I mention that I've been in touch with the professor, including a little something about what he (the professor) said.

Also wrote something on your thread.

If by 'listed in my application' you mean when you originally submitted your application documents, then no, you are not obliged to only contact those professors. When the embassy selects you as one of the students to be recommended for the scholarship, they will ask you to finalise your choice of universities and professors - I changed two of mine. So, go ahead and contact other professors.

All the best!

Thanks for the response, I applied to other universities however I am still not sure about it, your post is comforting! I would really hate to lose this scholarship especially after all that nerve-wrecking primary screening procedure! now I am simply waiting and hoping!
Good luck to you and to everyone else!!!

SOS, just got the MEXT scholarship for a master in special education (disability science). i need to get a supervisor and a university in English. can anyone help out please

hey guys......im so confused about this language issue. The professor i contacted said my masters program is exclusively in Japanese and i dont know if the language program is effective enough to guide me do a masters effectively in Japanese. And that i need to write the entrance examination into the masters program...i dont understand how feasible that is.

Hi everyone! I've been nominated by my home embassy for postgraduate studies and I have a LoA coming in the mail as we speak. Just wanted to sign up and give any advice I might be able to give since lurking here before my interview really helped me a lot.

On another note, has anyone else here applied for Tokyo University? After getting approval from a professor and sending documents they told me they needed to have a meeting in September before they decide whether to accept me.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum
I'm from Guyana (this little country in South America that's apart of the Caribbean) and planning on applying for the undergraduate scholarship next year in Natural Sciences C and B.
Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Thanks for your reply, I got a call from the embassy saying that I passed the interview and exam segment! When I did it, they said that the English exam had the most weight and just do as much as I could for the Japanese exam.

Right now I think I have to start applying for LoA from the Universities I have chosen

Thank you very much, Nekocandii! It's so nice to speak to someone from the Caribbean and all the best to you as well!

Hi everyone! I made this thread so I can communicate to all aspiring MEXT schorship participants. I applied for the MEXT Scholarship 2013 but unfortunately, I didn't get in. Who are going to apply?

I'm sorry that you didnt get the scholarship, do you know why you didnt get it? what do you think the factors were? was it the qualification? i know japanese language is not a minus, but i think it's a plus, MEXT has i believe 6mo. japanese language training. what kind of MEXT did you apply for? i am planning to apply for Master's degree scholarship for 2015. can you please share your experience so we ALL can learn from it thanks for sharing

Congratulations! how many steps it took to be endorsed to a university? did you choose your field of study?

Hey everyone, is there any advice for applying to Waseda or Sophia University in particular?

I really want to apply for a postgrad 2014 but I feel that I won't be 'qualified' enough. How did you prepare for your application last year/ what was your application process like?

why do i feel the same? just a quick question what MEXT are you applying for? i have a bachelor degree and taking my master's this september - i still feel this is not enough, i would like the research/MA scholarship- what qualification someone should have to land the MEXT scholarship?

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that :'( I remember they mentioned before that those who passed the initial screening of documents will be notified (call/email) of the examination schedule.

Hello all!
Just wanted to see how everyone's doing? I can see that the ones to apply through University recommendation are in motion now, eh?

I've got another 2-3 months of waiting to do... Getting impatient already :/
How many of special training college applicants have received the recommendation?
Also, does anyone knows how many applicants of this school receive scholarships every year?

Anyways, good luck with current screenings and I wish patience to everyone as I am running low on it... xD;

I've gone as far as getting my embassy's recommendation for undergraduates, so I just hope luck sticks to me till the end.
My exam marks were so bad I'm not entirely sure how I even got in, lol.
