Gladly, I've got a job and actually it's my job that inspired me to do the research, but I'm kind of tired of it and wanted a change in my life - and studying in Japan is definitely a huge change I desperately need Maybe it will be better for me to try looking some work in Japan directly, apply to Japanese companies and so on, but it's nearly impossible in my country. Besides, I don't have a clue what to do to get a work in Japan, but it's definitely worth a shot, I think.

As to the number of candidates, I believe that last year there were 4 people that went to Japan after all, but I was so frustrated when I heard the news about my status that I forgot to ask the embassy person about this issue =\. I plan to call them on Monday to know more details.

I was reading some posts on the Facebook group, and read that someone said he was an alternate "number 8" world wide! So I think that you could also get some kind of similar information from your embassy? Because it is not impossible for people to cancel their scholarship slot, and it would be good to know where you stand, right?

Hi guys !

I got an email from the embassy and apparently all the Spanish candidates have been accepted by the MEXT. I'm so happy >_<.

Although I'm really happy I'm concerned since apparently some people already have been contacted by the University and I haven't heard from any of them :S...

They informed us in the email that we should know which university we are placed in and if we are enrolled in a language program or not around February.

I hope everybody gets good news soon!

I'm sorry to hear that you are an alternate now... But don't give up, you can always try again. If this finally doesn't turn out fine for me I will try again

Congratz for the acceptance Akhesa ! It is very encouraging to hear that every candidate from Spain passed the screening.

I have a completely opposite situation from yours. The university has contacted me but there is still no news from embassy yet :?

I called up my embassy today and the lady told me that the results would come out in January! I guess she just didn't want to answer my questions LOL.

Congratulations Akhesa! How many lucky applicants were you from Spain?

I think I can calmly wait until Friday this week then go crazy from next week )

Hi mitch... The information that you got from your embassy is weird... I believe that usually most candidates get a pre-confirmation at mid-December ... At least I think it's been like that last years :S

We were 7 candidates this year. I'm assuming that we all got positive results since the mail was addressed to us as a group.


Try to have some patience... I was ready to wait till at least one or two weeks from now... I was surprised that I got the email today.
Anyway it shouldn't take long now for anyone !!

This scholarship seems to be all about waiting... I was waiting for this confirmation... And now I'm waiting to hear something from one of the universities I picked... It's like enrolling into a master's program on patience lol.

Yes this scholarship is a total mistery for everyone here, in Peru we are 6 candidates and 1 substitue and have not recieved news neither from our embassy nor from our universities. Im feeling jealous of you guys.

No idea gcarmelino... I applied for Waseda and Osaka university and I haven't heard from any of them. But I don't know about Tsukuba, sorry :S.

I just received call from Japanese Embassy in Indonesia. Passed the second screening for research student program
At first I called the embassy in the morning and the staff in charge said they didn't know the result yet. Then 1 hour later, different embassy staff confirmed my acceptance by calling me.

No news for undergraduates from embassy here in New Delhi. Moreover, it's a holiday today. Argh! Another 16 hours to kill. XD

anyone here who applied to Todai? I've asked my gradschool yesterday, their answer was:

"MEXT is now conducting the secondary screening, then the final notification will be made through the Embassy of Philippines between end January and February."

This makes me more nervous each day..

Hi everyone! Got an email from my professor saying that "MEXT formally accepts my application as a scholarship student" last Nov. 26.

@mitch2526 and maria1111, my friend who went to Tohoku Daigaku said he received the final result from Manila embassy Dec 16 last year. Let's keep our fingers (and toes) crossed until next week then!!! (^~^)

Hi! Results are out in the Philippines. Soon enough, we'll all know.

(Anyway, the embassy told us that we passed the second screening and currently, MEXT is asking the universities to which we will be placed. Hopefully, since we all got LoA's, we are at least 80% on the safe side.)
