24ppl this year only? then is a bit reduced compare last few years...
congrats to u again, which field u plan to study in?

Hi joanl,
yes only 24 ppl. last year there were 30, the year b4 33..it keeps getting reduced.
my field is computer science and i am majoring in software engineering.
I am sorry to hear that you did not get the email, i know how it feels not to get something that you really want. lately i have been unsuccessful in getting several jobs that i really want and it really bring my hopes down. but now that this offer has come along, im just having a hard time to believe that its actually happening. so never give up joanl. if some thing is meant to be yours, it will happen no matter how big or small the chances are. i wish you the very best!

it's so sad when you try so hard and fail...
I had been turned down a promotion because my boss taught I going to leave the company soon (when that time I asked for the recommendation letter).
Now have to face the toughest moment, gotta write to my professors in Japan, telling that I unable to work with them in future...
thinking of this the tears keep pouring...
thanks for your courage Sam, wish u all the best in your study!👍

hey joanl, don't give up. there's always next year. many people have tried countless times and finally succeeded in the end, so as long as you don't lose hope. even if this scholarship is not meant for you, there are so many others like Panasonic and Ajinomoto. i wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

sam1983, congrats to you! which universities are you eying on?

b4 the interview i already contacted a professor from tokyo institute of technology and received positive reply. the others are tsukuba and waseda. but now as time passes by, i might have to consider contacting nagoya u too. can we apply for loa from universities that we did not put in the list of 3 universities of our choice?

and how about you, ffxyunajo. ur field? univ of choice?

Hello guys,
Also here in Egypt the result still postponed from last May....

Hello guys,
here in Rwanda we'll pass the qualifying examinations for Japanese government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) scholarships this upcoming Tuesday July 19,2011.Those who have already passed it,how is it over.

yes here in India also, its for the first time that they announced the results of first round after 3 weeks and now we have to attend a second round interview, after which selections will be done, hopefully.

I am wondering as well, can someone answer this please?:?

it depends on the university itself. keio university for example, the procedures are, if we want to apply to keio, we need to put keio as the ONE AND ONLY university of our choice in the list. and we need to submit this form to them, as a proof. thats what i read from their website. so even though there is a professor there that has the research area that is similar to what i want to do, i just dont have the balls to put only keio in the list. so i did not put keio in any of my choices.
some universities does not require this document to be sent to them. in this case i think you can apply even if they are not in your list.
during the preparation of documents b4 the interview, our embassy stated that we will get rejected if we fail to get an LoA from the 3 university of our choice. but in the email that i received after i passed the primary screening, it said that, we can get as many LoA as we want, but MEXT will decide which university we will go to. so i guess that means its not just limited to that 3 universities......
anyway that is just my assumption, as i also want to contact nagoya-u, which i did not put it list.
hope this helps... anyway that it can........

My passing letter says this,

"In relation to this matter, please contact the Universities of your Choice in Japan and make
the utmost effort to obtain a Letter of Acceptance. The number of universities of your choice
must be limited to three (3). As soon as you are granted the Letter of Acceptance, kindly send
the original document to our office."

It's sort of vague and does not explicitly say that it should only be limited to those on my list. The lady at the embassy did not give me definite answers, as she says that the rules keep on changing.....

We have until August to get LOA right? Or is it again, different in each country?

Anyway good luck to all of us!!

P.S. anyone from the Philippines please show yourselves. I have no idea how many we are!

Received call from embassy today, I got embassy nomination on my 3rd attempt. Hope I also get the final YES from Tokyo. :)
