Members Who Join, But Never Post? Why??

I believe there is a correlation between the number of posts that Uncle Frank and Uncle Lexico have made that causes an inverse relationship on the non-posters, as they are balancing the equilibrium of this forum's pages to make sure that all chaos doesn't break out...so they do the negative postings...where when the rest of us are asleep, they read and begin posting what they find here into other forums, to make sure that there is the balance in the Force or the Cube or whatever form of energy, like the ones that Golgo13 used to talk about, throughout the forums/bloggin universe...

This is just a theory...because you know I know nothing :D

Search feature, PMs, the right to have their Internet Alias and membership signed up.
Fear of incorrect responses, fear of not knowing what to say.

I thought I'd bump this up to the top again, rather than start a similar thread.
We seem to have had a number of new members and this might encourage them to post more and on the different sub-forums. Some of the threads might look a bit daunting, especially those in serious discussions, but a new point of view helps keep the thread new and fresh. So don't worry if your put off by what some members are saying, your point of view is just as important and can give new insight into what is being said. 👍

well the thing is, why do they come, and go away after 1-10 posts? it happens a lot.. is it because they just want to know 1 thing? or does something scare them off? WHY DO THEY POST JUST 1-10 times?

I'm just a psychopath, and my axe is my buddy.

Sometimes they find the community to be distasteful, or just not suiting to their tastes. What's the problem anyways? If they don't want to post here, they don't have to. It's not a requirement to contribute to the community to be a member of the community.

to respond to this,
if they aren't going to contribute to the posts then dont join, but its still doing justice to jref by making its members count stand out, which pulls in the crowds.

surely frank the better question is "why join, if your not going to post?"
im baffled by it all.

Here's a chance to make one post for you members who join but never post; I was just wondering why? Are you just shy? Is it because you feel your English is not good? Do you like to join forums just to read the information? I guess it isn't the mystery of the universe, but I see hundreds of members who log in , but never post and I just wondered why.
Anyway, I'm glad you joined our Forum and hope someday you join our big happy family and post a "HELLO" at least!

Frank

:?

Hmm, I haven't posted much since I joined so I guess I fit in what you're saying. I just been really busy.. however I did post a "hello" :-)

I can't believe you are worried about your long posts, Lexico. They are one of the best things about this forum.

And sometimes people join and don't post at first, just to get a feel of people and topics, would be my guess.

Some of us don't always have a lot to say. There seems to be enough poeple that speak often enough that they say the same things we would. I myself don't like to repeat someone else. It's a good thing that not everybody is like that though otherwise this would be a boring place. Just be patient some of us might come around and open our mouths. Oh no wait a minute I means fingers. I can't type or spell worth a dime.

When i first joined this forum and i was realy worried about saying somthing stupid although there were alot of things i wanted to talk about. I havn't done many threads at all and most of them havn't done well, usually taken over a day or much more before anyone wants to post on them, so i guess i just don't talk alot here now.
I was tempted to leave this forum earlier on, there seems alot of people here knolegable about japan always stacked up with facts and you wanna speak somtimes but you don't want to seem like an idiot early on in the forum, which happend to me. So for the last couple of days i mainly just read things and don't post at all.

Hey, Tokis Phoenix, don't worry if people don't post on your threads. That doesn't necessarily mean they are 'bad' threads. I've started a number of threads that have 'sunk' - it's not a personal thing... just, only appealed to a small number of people. That doesn't bother me as long as someone gets something out of it! :p And maybe it takes longer than a day for someone to post, because, well, people sometimes have certain threads they visit 'regularly', if they have limited time for a couple of days they might only whizz through certain threads that are already familiar.

Personally I have liked your threads and posts so far! 👍 Although I can't remember if I actually posted on any of them  Perhaps I had nothing to say...

Don't leave, though, just because people are more knowledgeable than you about Japan! Hell, I mean, I've never even been there and look at my post count! Or rather, don't... 😌 ... I swear I wish there was a facility for hiding the post count, I find it so embarrassing... it looks like I have no life... (in fact I'm a very fast typist, I kid you not!). Seriously, though, it's good sometimes to sit back and read. I've learned a lot from the forum by doing that, and I don't often take part in serious or political or cultural discussion because I feel like I'd look such a fool... but I occasionally contribute to them anyway... and everyone is very nice and tolerant of me. So don't worry, I'm sure you won't look like an idiot... 😌

OH! Tokis-Phoenix, I know just what you mean!
Have you noticed that everything I put up here is useless? Oh well, sometimes it gets half pie comments, other times they thrive better than I could have imagined.
Then there are some things I have started up that have had no response at all!
You've been here longer than a week now, and have even moved upto Regular Member Status! Congratulations, I for one am interested in what you have to say, as are many other people, just we obviously dont show our appreciation enough...

Awww Kara, everything you put up is NOT useless! I think your posts are good! 😄

Thanks for the support 😌 , i thought that maybe most people wern't interested in what i had to say at first, i am kinda glad i am not the only one who feels this way somtimes- kara nari you are a very nice person, you have made me feel more welcomed here than most other people since i joined this forum 🙂 .

Alas, I think I post too much...

It is a bit intimadating to read the posts of highly articulate people (like Lexico). Perhaps for a month we could all post in internet slang and broken English?

kewl?

My reason is that i have no time. I wake up at 7 am, at 8 i am working and back hom at 8:30 pm, i have wife and things to do at home, so i can´t spend all the time i would like here. Apart from that i´ve found this forum quite big and i do not know where to begin. I have spent half an hour to read this thread and in ten minutes my wife arrives home so i won´t be again round here ´till tomorrow, after Fernando Alonso race there in Japan hehe. But tomorrow i have to work again all day long. Sorry friends, i would love to be here for hours and hours but honestly i have no more time. Is it possible to increase from 24 to 48 hours what the day lasts?
Greetings from your friend in Spain, and please don´t push me away if i don´t post often!

Please don't be intimidated, Pararousia; I am not that articulate in real life-so I'm trying to make up on the web, fooldja ! :p
CHUS, I can see quite clearly what's been going on, and I am sure we can do something about it. If you have a second puter for your wife, here's what you do. Sign her in on the forum, and you can have lovely chats if any one of you feel lonely or left out. Don't you think that's a wonderful idea ? Catch two birds with one stone so to speak. That way you can keep your marriage and have your time on the forum on the side. What do you say ? 😎

That would be great if only she liked a little bit this stuff, but unfortunately she doesn´t like languages and neither computers, she prefers gardening. I have only 30 minutes per day, more or less, to dive into the net. And sometimes i get what i want, i find many info in this site but have little time to post anything. I hope u all allow me to go on visiting this site even if i don´t post often. Thanks in advance. See u!

No problem at all, CHUS, we all have different time zones, so to speak ! 😌
I'm glad you find the things here useful, and hope to see you logged on time to time. Do post when you can, but no pressure at all. See you around, CHUS ! 🙂

... Lot's of new member joined the last 4 months... some of them are gone already....

Can't be helped I guess ^^'
I think I started to post only several months after joining Jref...so maybe they'll come back?

Funnily enought I thought about boosting to the top, but Dutch has beaten me to it. I know we have a few lurkers. My brother lurks. So far he has made two posts.
