Looking for Japanese Muslims

Konbanwa everyone!
I notice that when Japanese people bow and kneel, it is very much like the prayer of a Muslim almost, only we believe that only God is worthy to be bowed and prostrated to.
In Islam we are taught that every nation on earth was sent a messenger to call to the oneness of God, and so my thinking is that the beautiful manners of the Japanese are left over maybe after centuries, of what the Prophet who was sent to Japan taught. And over time the message was destorted and people began to bow to people instead, and of course God knows best!

nice manners are inherited from a a specific believe system..might be from the abrahamic believes, a philosophy, a civil law....etc
the matter is similaraties between bushido and the islamic warrior code are so strong....
shinto politeness and islamic teachings are so similar as well.

but i never thought some one will agree to that also or even notice

I would think it'd be something to look into, but at the moment, doubt that we would be able to find any connection because of the age of the cultural movement. Since this thread would be for such a matter, doing it here is fine. I would suggest, however, that you stick with it if you were to start. You will likely find some objections to some of your propositions, so I think it would be good to make sure you have sources and data...and that would have to be more than just a couple of on-line sites.

I would encourage you to do that though !! Study and learning is such a great thing. I'll let you make the first post as to just where that idea comes from in the first place, and the details behind it, since I am not familiar with it.

Hi minna-san. My name is Abdul Rahman, living in Singapore. I learnt Japanese since November 2004 and still learning til now. Working as a full-time analyst programmer for a local-based MNC. Cheh so much for MNC. If possible looking towards working for an actual MNC in Japan. Insya-Allah. Only Allah knows what's best for me. Anyway, I have questions and I need to find answers.

It's about the Culture and Religion in Japan. It seems that it's all mixed together. How do you Muslim fellas managed to get your non-Muslim Japanese girls to convert and how do you cope after that? It's amazing and I've yet to find out how. I'm quite weak in my own religion so I'm working towards it.

I wished to find answers. And I will try my very best, Insya-Allah, to attain the answers to my questions. And I will share the knowledge of what I have with others too.

There are so many halal food places in Singapore. There's more to meat than pork. LOL. ok ok jk jk.

I've been to Japan 4 times. Still want to go there. Best is to visit the mosques. I'm sick and tired of Anime and manga. I'll go for more better things. Next plan is to visit all mosques in Japan. Insya-Allah.

Hi mars man, it's just an idea i had, nothing concrete, so i don't intend to delve deep ito it or research, that's not my thing. Just lookig forward to one day meeting a japnese friend who is muslim one day when i get the opportunityto go to Japan!

Thinking of how many Japanese muslims I've met till now, I'm quite surprised. Especially when I haven't visited Japan yet. I knew 3 Japanese muslim women (unfortunately lost contact with them when they moved back). I also met a Japanese muslim professor when he came to my mother's workplace a few years ago to talk about Islam in Japan. And I hear that a Japanese professor in my college is muslim.

The best way to contact Japanese muslims if you're outside Japan, I think, would be to contact the Islamic Center, and also check out Muslim penpal sites. A friend of mine had told me of a site, but I can't remember what it was.

Islam is monotheistic and religions in japan are pantheistic. Pantheistic beliefs revere nature and all living beings(e.g. human beings) in the entire cosmos with such awe and deep respect with the belief that they are one with the entire cosmos. God or gods (Kami as called in Nihongo) symbolizes these forces of nature and it also related to their own lives. This idea is very much common to Buddhist beleifs as well. Thus, Buddhism and Shinto(indigenous religion in japan) go hand in hand. However, Shinto lacks philosophical truth while Buddhism delves into practise and philosophical truth embodied in it.

The difference between monotheistic religions like Islam and its sister faith Judeo-Christian religions(western religions) and pantheistic religions such as represented by Buddhism or shinto(eastern religions) is that western religion like Islam tends to be anthropocentric, placing humanity at the apex of the natural order. Buddhism in particular, on the other hand, views humankind as a part of nature, supporting and giving rise to the notion of bioethics. Since every individual is connected to everything on earth, the destiny of our planet is influenced by the individual's actions. This impersonal truth is viewed in Buddhism as Mystic Law(Dharma) which underlies all creation.This law or truth This truth is eternal and boundless. It is present always and everywhere. In this sense, the law of life is not the exclusive property of a certain religious group, or to a prophet or priest. The truth is open equally to everyone.

The ultimate and all-abiding law(mystic law) that the Buddha perceived may be another name for some people's concept of God. On the other hand, a person who cannot believe in an anthropomorphic God can see an underlying energy to the universe. The breadth of Buddhism encompasses both views and focuses on the individual.

There is no one to blame - and no one to implore for salvation. In Buddhism, no God or supernatural entity plans and shapes our fates. In Western religion, you can bring yourself closer to God through your faith, but you can never become God. In Buddhism, one could never be separate from the wisdom of God, because the ultimate wisdom already exists in the heart of every person.

Islam and other religions and culture do not share the same practise or beleifs with Islam as founded by Muhammad who is an arab. Do not compare Islamic culture as prefect while others are inferior. This kind of thingking or belief is wrong!!

Pre-Islamic culture(indigenous arabians) and japanese cultures and beleifs are somewhat in common but they are two distinct cultures. Pre-islamic culture believes on gods and revere nature quite similar to Shinto. Kneeling and bowing to gods or nature is the common practises of ancient or native religions across cultures not only the arabs like my in country before christianity and Islamization in Philippines native filipinos do kneel and bow during their religious rituals. So it is not unique to Islam because it is common practises to ancient arabs or, or asian religions.

Assalamu alaykum to all the Muslims in Japan. I knew there were muslims in Japan but I wasn't aware of the exact numbers. 200,000 is a huge number of muslims.

I'm very happy to hear that their are masjids there as well.
