OK, here's how you play Shiritori.

You see that the previous poster (Kaia) posted the word 理科室（りかしつ）？ Now, you are supposed to take the last letter of that word (つ）and come up with a word that starts with it.

釣り つり tsuri = fishing

つり の り！！

ashikaga-san, may I ask you a question regarding shiritori...
sometimes I watch anime/listen to anime songs, and when they play shiritori, they use phrases too..
for example: I wanted to answer ryoushin (良心) but it ends with ん so I've seen them continuing it to form a phrase instead of a single word - ie: 良心がとがめる (guilty conscience)

is this normally possible? or only under certain rules?

It is usually just single words and not phrases as far as I know.

爪楊枝 つまようじ Tsumayouji = toothpick

自業自得 (じごうじとく) Jigoujitoku = paying/suffering for one's own mistakes/faults.
I think every buddhist country has similar phrases. (related to karma)

In case the above, if that's not considered 1 word, then 自宅 (jitaku) = one's home.
