Learning Japanese techniques

Hello, I have been itching to know how to speak Japanese for a while (reading/writing comes later), and I was wondering if anyone had any methods or suggestions based on my learning style, I am hands on but I learn from a lecture. I am not a book learner.

I've heard immersing myself in the language 24/7 would help, and I've even heard of dream learning where you play something repeatedly and it affects your dreams and if you can lucid dream, you can retain it. Do any of these work?
