I am here in the U.S., I am a serious student of Japanese culture, history, society, and what have you, and a student of the language, having been so for a few years so far.I live in Gunma. There's nothing particularly interesting about my job. Freight is freight. Point A is Point A and Point B is Point B.
I find grammar the hardest to learn. Its really tricky putting all those words and particles together for me.

My saying so will show how unknowledgeable I am, but I was under the impression that the longest I would ever get to stay in Japan (assuming by miracle I ever do get there) would be 90 days, and if I wanted to stay longer, I would have to leave the country and then reenter for up to 90 days on another visa (or via whatever red tape is required).
(I am taking no issue with what you say. I am not doubting it or challenging it.)
What you say here offers some hope of a longer stay.
I think if you have the chance to speak to someone in Japanese as apose to learning from a book etc. It's easier and faster to leave out the particles when you're not sure and just say the words. Eventually you will naturally pick up the order and positioning of as you did with English.![]()
Great news, that. Till now, I had thought it would be harder than pulling teeth to get to live in Japan. You can get a working visa for a year to start and extend it indefinitely if you can organize a job first. Most Americans come on a working visa teaching English which is not so hard to attain as long as you have been to college. People under thirty and hailing from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England and probably others can get a working holiday visa for 18 months. Or you could marry a native...
As I see it, when it comes to kids that little, we can't "teach" them a language. We can facilitate to one degree or another their acquiring a language, but it is up to them whether they
choose to acquire it or not.....
Very true. I'm quite far along already and I've only been seriously studying for a couple of months, despite having been interested for many years.^^^u can get to a basic conversational level in less than six months. I did. It's achievable![]()
Is watching Japanese films with subtitles really helpful in learning Japanese?
After reading this thread I wonder what makes the op think he's the right person to teach Japanese.
