Japan's Hata clan

The Hata clan (秦氏) was an immigrant ( Torai-jin 渡来人 ) clan active in Japan since the Yamato period, according to the epic history Nihonshoki.

The first leader of the Hata to arrive in Japan, Uzumasa-no-Kimi-Sukune ( Yamatoized name ), arrived during the reign of Emperor Chūai, in the 2nd century CE. According to the epic, he and his followers were greeted warmly, and Uzumasa was granted a high government position.

The name Hata ( 秦 Qin in Chinese reading ) was reserved to descendants of the Chinese Qin Dynasty established in ancient Japan

I have read somewhere that scholars debate upon that the Hata are of Semitic origin. If so, then why does Hata points to Chinese ancestry?

Because it's recorded in Japan's shoban ( or 蕃 別 banbetsu ).

諸蕃 ( shoban ) was a family registry designated Japanese clans known to be of continental descent.

Todaiji temple in Nara is one of the oldest temple and famous for the great statue of Buddha.

Omizutori, which means taking sacred water, has become the popular name of the ceremony.

But the ceremony is very famous for its flaming ritual.

Three-time-announcement
holding a torch attendant-boys run up to Nigatsu-do three times ; first, to ask the present time,second, to announce that Rengyoshu priests are soon coming up to Nigatsu-do,third, to announce that Rengyoshu now come up.
10 Big torches are carried up to Nigatsu-do everyday at the observance of the first watch of the night from first to 14th of March. On 12th, eleven instead of ten torches are carried up.

Some claim the ritual might have been related to the Zoroastrianism. Actually the Nihonshoki said about Persians coming to Japan.

In wiki, it says that the Hata clan is of Jewish ancestry and their Jewish culture influenced the Japanese culture to a greater extent

I think it a pure exaggeration
