Japanese Movie DVD's

Hi folks, this is my first post on the JREF forums.
I live in the States but I'm interested in buying some Japanese-language war movies on DVD. One of them is a 2007 movie about Kamikaze pilots titled Ore-Kimi (For Those We Love). Another is an oldie from 1963 (?) titled Taiheiyou no Tsubasa, a fighter pilot flick starring Toshiro Mifune. I'm sure I could walk into a video store in Tokyo and get these with no problem but stateside it's a whole different ball game. I hardly get any useful hits doing searches with the titles. Anybody have suggestions?

I didn't find a movie called Ore-kimi, but I did find Taiheiyou no Tsubasa on Amazon Japan. they do ship overseas, although it's not cheap. Also, there is no English on this movie. It's Japanese soundtrack with Japanese subtitles. So if that's fine with you, here's at least one option for you.

Be sure you get the right country coded version. American DVDs cannot play on most Japanese DVD players, and vice versa.

Good point, Glenski. One of my other online friends found a video rental site that had the Kamikaze movie but the rental DVD was for Region 3 (Southeast Asia) which wouldn't do me any good as my DVD player is Region 1 (US)

Yesasia.com has a big selection of DVD's, and last I checked- moderately priced DVD players that play all regions of DVDs.

Numark, thanks for your reply. I noticed Yesasia.com has the battleship Yamato movie for around $12, pretty good price if it would work on my DVD player.

What you're going to need is a region-free DVD player. You can Google for dealers for these.

Also, Japanese DVDs are priced much higher than American ones.
