so guys i wanted to know what are some great Japanese Mobile's that work world wide that are sort of cheap i would love to own one im from Australia i buy from yesasia any help plz
ps i think this is the right forum page if it isn't plz tell me

From what I've heard, it is possible to get a Japanese cell phone that has been modified to work anywhere in the world. I would imagine AU phones since they are set to be international, would be the most likely to work for this. I'm sorry I don't anymore than that, but I know what you are looking for does exist.

thank u cuz i thought every mobile in the world works in the world well i will keep looking ^_^

actually AU phones are the least compatible, technology is based on CDMA2000+unique authentication scheme (not ESN), used mainly by China Mobile CDMA, besides au.

the status quo is
* docomo or softbank that is suitably new
(docomo 905/705 and up, softbank 3G)
* use SIM hack to operate cell phone
** certain late model NEC can be soft unlocked

limitations--
* no 3G service
* no 850mhz GSM service
* no videocalling
* issues upon dropping signal ("OUT")
* crappy 1900mhz service, depending in your provider
* NO MMS, NO INTERNET

Japanese mobile phone numbers are either 080-xxxx-xxxx or 090-xxxx-xxxx.
From a public payphone, just dial 080-... or 090-..., no need to add another number at the before these numbers.

Hi Bradsan,
If you want to know a little bit more about Japanese mobile operator, have a look to the article mentioned in the title of this post.

It is tailored for people that want to come to Japan to study Japanese, however you can find info about those Japanese operator. I advice to contact them directly, they should have some staff who speaks English and you can get a precise answer to your question.
