Japanese lesson 9 book 2

I'll have to post lesson 7 and 8 later. This is this weeks lesson.

My question is: when んです is used, what does that actually do to the word.

Example: いたいんですよ。
Ｎｏｔ sure what the difference is between いたいです and いたいんです。

This is page 65 of lesson 9.

Also I want to start using the vocabulary in short dialogues. Here is a few examples. Can you see if I used them correctly, please.

A. Where do your parents live?
あなたのりょうしんはどこにすんでいますか
Ｂ. They live in Chicago.
かれらはシカゴにすんでいます。

A. What are you doing tomorrow?
明日（あした）は何（なに）をするつもり（plan)ですか。
B. かいものにいくつもりだよ。

Vocabulary is: parents and shopping in the above examples.

あなたのりょうしん is not wrong bout it could sound rude. ごりょうしん（＝御両親） is more appropriate in polite conversations.

You don't need to mention the subject since it's obvious from the context. It's OK to say just シカゴにすんでいます or more simply シカゴです.

Your textbook would offer you to use "plain style" also in the question.

しますか is also polite. Besides, the meaning of the question is changed since you dropped つもり.

It's nice to hear you're alive, anyway. My wife was asking how you're getting along a couple of days ago and I had to tell her we hadn't heard anything from you for a while.

I really got busy with work and even got my business cards made, but haven't marketed myself yet since I can't really answer the calls, but I have to go step by step. Also I want to teach at the community centers here in town and by this Saturday, the person helping me this will have some information on that. I now have 2 Japanese classes on Saturday and one class seems to be one on one (teacher), so I'm going back over book one 1st half of the class and book 2 the other half.

Financially, it is difficult and somewhat dangerous (as I was told) to live in this country on my current income, so although I found a part-time job (that really helps), my income is still not going to cut it in the long run for me, so
I'm going to get back into teaching.. (hopefully my own boss).
