Japanese Blankets

I believe they are called "Nene" or the same type of blankets used with futons or with their sleeping mats. I'm looking to purchase a queen sized one and would like to know where I may buy one rather cheap. I know they can get quite expensive..Any help would be great, thx!

Cheap, try somewhere like Nitori or Ito Yokado. Just like your closest department store. Probably looking in the range of 6000-10000yen.

They are called "kaimaki", you can buy them at bedding stores in Japan.

While we are on the subject of bedding, I've moved recently, and I'd like to buy a japanese style futon, by that I mean, simply a futon that lies on the ground without the boxes etc. I'd like one similar to those they show in Japanese commercials etc, big fluffy, white. The sort of thing that you could go to Loft and purchase.

Can I get this sort of thing anywhere in the states? I know there are lots of places that sell futons, but I've never bought one made in the US.

Futon mattresses I've bought in the US are much thicker and heavier than Japanese shikibuton I used. I think it's because they are usually used on a wooden frame, without an extra mattress or spring underneath it. They are not like shikibutons you can fold up and store in the closet.

You can search for it online and probably have it shipped to a furniture store near you to save on shipping.

Thanks for the responses... Misa.j, that's what I had thought... I'll keep looking, but I want to avoid buying a "lifestyle" instead of simply a futon... It seems like the places that have futons are more geared into selling people some sort of idea about shoji rooms and tea ceramonies than simply a funton... Sigh... The sites linked above have futons sets and mattresses at $700.00 which is for crazy people...

I've been told there is some sort of a mis-print in the kanji in that ad, and that the first kanji typically can't be used on its own isolated... I dunno...

My rough translation is that it's basically a black cover for a futon/bed, at 3800 yen, which includes tax, but does not include shipping which is at 525 yen per piece...

I don't think they would ship this anyplace out of Japan, it's more like a delivery service.
