Japan submissive towards China?

The French do indeed have an excellent navy. In the past, the Japanese Imperial Navy was less nationalistic as the Army and was quite powerful too.

If China invaded Japan I think the U.S. would do more than 'help'. Any military aggression againts Japan by China would no doubt be in the context of a wider conflict involving Taiwan and/or North Korea too. The U.S., and likely NATO forces, would become involved in the war, the result, of which would almost certainly involve the defeat of China and/or North Korea, but with the possibility of massive human and material damage, not to mention the likely use of WMD.

The chiense have only nubmers. They have su-27s and other soviet technology. They ahve aircraft nubmer but the chiense dotn have the skill to maintain sorties. It can probbaly send thousands of sorties to Jpan but after it will dwimdle to smaller. In a strategic war, Japan would win (i.e) bombing bases but in a prolonged warm china would win.

I think the ROC would go on the defensive and help Japan (and Japan the ROC) if it was a dual invasion.

why China is gonna to invade japan? just because selfish taiwaness are dreaming to pull everyone into the swamp when they suck.

first, US is changing its strategy, taiwan will be give up as some kind of compromise, sooner or later.

second, japan and korea won't do anything more than what US permits.

so taiwaness can stop saying funny thing like chiness invading japan. that will never happen. the war between china and japan will only go in one mode--ultimate destruction. maybe US is willing to revenge, maybe japan has its own nuke strike power, maybe it is the end of the world, but nothing can change japan and japaness people's fate in such a war. let's pray it won't happen. it is silly to talking about 7th fleet, about PLA's inferior equipment and training. remeber why Koizumi said there should be no war between china and japan, that's not just a diplomatic smile.

no offence, discussion only

Selfish Taiwanese? I'm not a fan of Taiwan independence, but I don't think the Taiwanese want to suffer under communist rule and massacre. Why can't we just have the PRC and ROC exist side by side?

Japan is being submissive towards China because China is one of the future power. Japan is scared of China's actual size and population.
Everyone is eyeing on China including Japan.

Heh, Shooter, you seem rather well informed about the capacities of the American fleet. I do have to wonder how long the American navy can keeps its advantage in Chinese waters, however.

In any conflict in China's coastal waters, America is at a disadvantage. Granted, America's superior sea power and technology gove it the edge today and for the near future, but as China continues to build up and modernize an army geared towards defeating American navy might the less immediate future is looking less than comfortable.

As far as Taiwan goes.... Taiwan exists seperately today only due to American interference in 1949 which isolated and protected Taiwan from the victorious communist revolution. Some will view this interference favourably, as it allowed for the vibrant Taiwanese democracy to bloom. Others will not, as it has inevitably resulted in the current tensions across the Taiwan Straight.

I have no doubt that China and Taiwan will reunite peacefully in the next 20 years. Steps have already been taken in that direction, such as the re-opening of charter flights between mainland China and Taiwan. And despite speed-bumps along the way, such as Beijing's passage of the anti-seccession law and Japan and America's joint statement regarding the defence of Taiwan (I'm sorry, but that was a very foolish more on Japan's part, imo), the process will not be derailed permanently.

The ROC will never fully assimilate into the communist structure without the use of force. Especially if it is a thriving democracy.
