Thanks for the advice. I have never been arrested and have no criminal record at all. I only have 1 speeding ticket in my early 20s that is off my DMW record by now.

Honestly, I think the Japanese opinion of black men is not as bad as some people seem to think it is. It just depends who you're dealing with. Of course, I am not a black man, so I wouldn't know from personal experience, and I have seen blatant racism against an African friend of mine here. But that is certainly not the norm.

And trust me when I say, Barack Obama has done wonders for the image of the African American man over here. It's frankly baffling how much they love Obama over here. (I'm not meaning to turn this topic political, I'm just saying... people here love Obama.)

You're definitely right about that. When I went to Japan over the summer its amazing how many of the Japanese people I spoke to who loved Obama and how he holds himself. Most told me he's a good speaker.

On topic though, Japan is just like any other country when it comes to women preferring black men. I myself am black and when I went to a hip hop club, I could tell I was getting a little more attention than when I'm just on a train or at a shrine. There are some Japanese women who love black men, some who like us as friends, and some who don't like black men at all.

It just depends!
