hairpins usually require shifting down, and braking as well, especially if coming from high-speed going to technical (e.g. akagi and akina downhill, before the consecutive hairpins).
and, yes, some turns require tapping or in some instances, giving the brakes a kick to get the fastest line possible w/o hitting the walls.
some turns can be taken just by braking and not having to shift down.
There's this new game where I play. It's more expensive than IDv3. It's called Maximum Tune or something.
