What is the point of taking the test if you are going to copy answers? Waste of time if you ask me.

You would need at least one year of fulltime study to be able to clear the JLPT1...
My friends all say that being able to come close to the passing grade for level 2 in one year is already miracle enough...especially considering how I was (not) studying.
Beside, I have lost all interest for Japan during the year I spent there so I doubt I will take the next level or even the level 2 again before long.
Btw, I agree that cheating in such tests is completely useless...a test is given to check your ability level, and if you can't do some questions yet, just study them more.
Anyways, good luck.

By copy what do you mean? Like copy answers from other people beside you? Like.. cheating?
I took 1kyuu last Sunday. I feel good about it but I'm not getting optimistic until the results come in Feb.
I took 1kyuu last summer too just to see what it was like, and I failed that one by 4%, so I'm hoping I passed this time and made up that 4%.

No man, its not like that.
I have mastered around 400-500 kanji's, which r required for sankyuu level and grammar too.
So, no problem in paper 1 and 3. But I get problems in paper 2, listening...
Well.. I've been studying to pass the JLPT level 1 since last June, and I'm pretty sure I passed. I took 19 practice tests (all the tests from 1991 to 2008, and 2 practice tests out of the "You can pass!" book), completed 4 workbooks (kanzen master vocab/grammar, matome, Shiken ni deru. I tried to work on a book about reading comprehension but I didn't have time), and studied a little bit using the program Anki.
The test was easier than I thought for vocab, listening, and grammar. But the reading portion was hard. I don't really understand the social issues they're trying to argue in those essays, so I guessed some of them. Listening was funny, but since I'm not supposed to share the details of the test... I'll just leave it at that, I guess.
I'm pretty certain I passed.

Well I undertook 2kyuu and as I had thought, kanji was a bit of a thorn in my side...lots of questions, not enough time! You had maybe 30 seconds for each question in kanji. Listening was (surprisingly) not as hard as I had thought. I had taken a couple of practice exams before the test but failed to do the listening section haha. If anything will save my bacon it might be listening. Bunpou and Reading as usual posed the bigger threat. However I saw some bunpou examples that were almost straight out of Kanzen Master! There were a few vague examples where I couldnt really decide between one point or another but meh. Reading was not as difficult as I had envisioned it to be...although I usually read the question first and then scanned for the point the question was referring to and scan around the reading.
All in all i think I did the best I could do and I guess I will know the result in February

To your points in order of appearance...
1) I love the kanzen master series. I've got them all.. pink, purple, orange, yellow, plus the green and brown and blue for level 2. I find them to be very well laid-out, comprehensive and overall helpful books, more so than any other series.
2) This program is the mainstay of my study method. It has allowed me to remember literally thousands of words over the course of one year. I don't know where I'd be with out it, I'd certainly be having issues trying to manage my vocab studies with paper flash cards.
3) I agree, the first article was especially thick. For me personally I found the reading itself not so bad but what was worse was that many of the answers really resembled each other and required a bit of interpretation in order to find the 'most' correct one. I was also surprised at how little fiction there was, actually there was none IIRC. It was all opinion and academic pieces, and one tategaki poem-looking kinda thingy.
4) The last one was funny huh? Glad I had anime and drama as part of my listening practice!

As you are from Japan, you definitely know Japanese language more than me.
So, if you have any material in digital format, then can you please upload here?
Any GOOD Kanji book, grammar patterns, etc...

Tae Kim's guide is a pretty good grammar guide and smart.fm has some good vocab/Kanji memorization programs.

Sorry, I don't have any digital material. Regarding Anki, it's a free program that you'll be able to find via a simple google search. The deck of cards however you have to make on your own, and indeed that would be the best way to do it so that they have personal meaning, context and relevance; the deck is a reflection of the material you've studied and you can personalize it and really optimize your studying in so doing. This is a superior method in my opinion to pre-made decks that use someone else's pre-set examples.
As for other recommendations, as I mentioned I highly recommend the kanzen master series. It's written in Japanese only, no English explanations, so it's quite useful for high-level study, and the layout/format is excellent in my humble opinion.
Another book I used but failed to mention earlier is Unicom's Listening Practice book with 4 CD's, that was also excellent and I highly recommend it.

As for me, I completed the kanzen master's serie with two books from Seiichi Makino that were recommended by members of this forum:

A Dictionary of intermediate Japanese Grammar (ISBN:978-4789007757)
Whenever you can't understand a grammar point, they were really helpful to me since I did not always have access to the internet.
PS: If you are preparing for the level 3 though, the basic one is enough
