I'm a danish guy who currently lives in China, and I've had a lot of success linking up my friends with Chinese people through skype to do language exchange or private tutoring. I'm currently studying Spanish this way myself with someone from Mexico and it works wonders. Here's the thing, me and some relatives also want to start studying japanese this way, so i've been working hard at finding anyone in japan who could either teach us, or help us link up with someone who could teach us. But so far it has been really difficult for me... I haven't found any proper classifieds websites, or expat community forums the size of what there are in China etc.
We don't need professional teachers, just students or similar who can speak a bit of english and would like to talk to some foreigners. Then we'll either pay an appropriate salary or give English teaching in return.
If anyone here could help me find interested Japanese teachers, I would be really grateful
