Just curious to hear what you all think is a good age for you personally. To me much older than what you all would be use to.

Isn't there a rule somewhere, "half your age plus seven"?

As long as both people are adults I don't think age really matters as long as you love each other and have something in common. Personally my husband is 9 years older than I am, and I sometimes like to tease him about being an old geezer.

There is not rule against it but would you feel fun if you heard my husband is 40 years older than me. He is poor in money but in spirit very rich.👍

I think it doesn't matter, it depending on if you get on great. ^^"

The oldest I have ever dated was 13 years older than me. That is just chance, not a limit for me.

I don't think it's nice when people are gold-digging but I think you can have love at any ages. You do have to think that there will be cultural differences from being different generations but if you have other things in common that maybe doesn't matter.

I think the boundaries of what I would consider usual is 16 years difference; after that one of you is old enough to legally be the parent of the other so I can understand why people can think that may arise differences between you, but I don't think there is any limit, it is just whether there is love between 2 people. :)

My wife is 7 years older than me. I always get a kick out of conversations like how when she was in 12th grade, I was in 5th grade..lol.

It`s seems to me - thats depend from peoples... If not having Love - nobody could be marred. If Love exist - age difference is not important...

As far as relative age goes, I suppose that depends on the woman you're talking about.

As far as absolute age, I've noticed that the number goes up every year. lol

I tried a few older women back when I was single.

I was too insecure to handle someone older and wiser than me. When I was younger, being in control and being the absolute boss was important. I married a woman just 4 years younger than me, but she had to be younger. Turns out in the end, she's the boss, LOL.

The "rule" comment was made as a joke mostly. If you don't mind my asking how old are you? (If you think the question is too personal you don't need to answer.):-)

I personally do not care about the age of the person I'll ever get in a relationship with, or marry.
The most important things for me are commitment, fidelity and personality.

22 years old. I don't mind you asking at all.

I don't have a problem with large age gaps in relationships or marriage. I agree with the thus-far popular opinion of this thread that so long as both parties are adults whom can make sound decisions on their relationships, then age doesn't have to be a factor.

Things that might want to be considered that does regard age. 1) Health. If the age difference is significant enough for this to be a factor. Can the person endure falling in love with someone whom is likely going to have a much shorter lifespan than themself? 2) Generation gaps. Usually you can tell early on if this is going to be an issue or not. Though if the age difference spans widely enough, it can bring up a few depressing snags when those people grew up during different times. Then again, this isn't much different from culture gaps either. So it really just depends on the person.

Though as I said. Age isn't an issue for me. I'll date ages up or down so long as the more important factors are in place (such as emotional adoration, affection, romance, similar personalities.)

On average, women live 7-8 years longer than men, and it's especially true in Japan.
Basically, if women where to think this way, the trend would be younger men marrying 7-8 year older women, which is contrary to the current trend isn't it? 😌

Very much so. Though it's never a comfortable thing to think of a person's mortality.

At the risk of sounding presumptuous. Women (at least of what I know of American women) usually prefer older guys due to the men having a higher sense of confidence, stability, maturity, and assurance of knowing what he wants in life. This isn't to say that a younger guy can't provide these things. Though for most men, age provides wisdom and experience. As for others, some men just never learn to grow up.

As far as I've experienced, many american ladies (I'm talking from a college/uni point of view) are also into adventurous or foreign guys (mostly europeans) and so on.

Here from what I've seen, younger women date older guys because of their income and indeed because of a more stable situation.

Still...I somehow was involved into a gokon (matchmaking party) without knowing it, and it was scary/funny how the women tried to get a man once drunk. Even though I am foreigner (Chinese) and 5 years younger than most of them, some tried to err...well whatever...

Dreamer: Were these American women, Japanese women, or a combination that were trying to get you drunk?

Well...actually, most of the alcohol came from my friend who was being hit on by a pretty persistent guy -__-

Still, when I am saying "drunk" in my previous post I was referring to the women who acted normal at first but started going toward the guys once they had a few sips.

My mum is seven years older than my dad; they met when he was 19 and she was 26.

My husband is 1 year younger than me. The youngest person I have been in love with is 6 years younger than me, the oldest was 20 years older, although I tend to go for people around my own age; the oldest person I had a relationship with was three years older than me.

Generally speaking I wouldn't be attracted to a person a lot older or younger than me, but there can be exceptions.

Tsuyoiko:

Am I understanding what you said correctly? You are saying that the oldest person you were in love with was 20 years older, but the oldest person you were in a relationship with was only 3 years older? I'm curious, how did you fall in love with someone without having a relationship with them?

Is it possible to be in love with someone without being in a relationship with them? In my case, I was in love with someone that circumstances prevented me from getting involved with. Well, we had a relationship of sorts, but not a romantic one. That's what I meant.

If said person is rich enough, any. Now its shame its not really a custom to pay a dowry anymore.
