Ditto, Flashjeff!
The only thing is I'm still an ardent fan of low-technology.
Actually there was a movie tauting low-tech, what was the title...dementia??? :D
I still have ALL my LP vinyl records, thee original 3rd generation discs, btw!
Sad to say my mother donated my reel tape player, used to be top of the line back in the 60's....
I just need to get around fixing my old LP player+amp combo...
I've held out this long to get on-line, so that's how stubbord I am. :D :D

Well, the only vinyl I have these days are my Pink Lady albums which I obtained via auctions. Otherwise, I wasn't much for buying albums since I listened to music while onboard ships during my Navy career, and space was tight, so I opted for cassettes.

Wow! I remember ree-to-reel decks! They were supposed to be the ultimate in recording perfection, but you couldn't take the reels with you. That was why I never thought about buying one. They died out in the mid-80's, didn't they? As for 8-track, in a word----UGH!!!!

I'm a hardcore gadget freak. I could spend hours wandering in Best Buy. In fact, I'll soon have a HDTV in my place! YAHOO!! can't wait!
👍

Hey, Jeff,

There was nothing wrong with eight-tracks ..... that a good steam hammer wouldn't put right !

I still have some ... with Jethro Tull on 'em ! And a player .... ! .... somewhere.

I still have lots of vinyl, and ... even... a small collection of wax cylinders !

But even I don't claim to remember them ! (I have an old phonograph, though ... and have played some !)

Rock on, dudes ! (Did I get that right ... ?)

Amen to that, brother! 👍

And to think that way back in the early 70's, 8-track was supposed to be next great thing, it was in cars and all those portable players flooded the market. But you couldn't record on it like cassette and, most annoying of all, it would cut a song in half while moving from one track to the next. That drove me crazy, even when listening to someone else's machine. Boy, am I glad it died the ignominious death it deserved!

I remember that 8-track. We had just one tape, and I kept wondering when we'd get more, but that never happened. :(

I knew it was the new, hot stuff. But I never heard much more of it. It was the first technology that semi-took off and landed headlong. Just like the laser disc thing. I have one disc and the palyer, but don't know if I'll ever use it much other than for playing CDs. Even that! :(

I was skeptic of the 3 1/2 in. diskette player too, and no wonder it fell far short of expected when I compare it to the 5 1/4 in. thing.
Go~~ low-tech! 😄

Yeah !!!!!!!

My first 8-Track was "Thick as a Brick" (Jethro Tull) - Really pee-d me off the way it chopped it up !

Thank God, I now have it on CD and Vinyl and tape !

Of course, my eight- track is possibly a real collectors' item, now !

I feel old because I can remember the days of Commadore 64. :P

Goツ〜ツ〜 low-tech!

Do you remember the 8 inch floppies? Imagine trying to store those bad boys! It's amazing that the 3 1/2 discs aren't dead yet! On the music front, the Mini-Disc was supposed to be the next big thing in the early 90's, but it never took off after recordable CD's came out.

Ahh! Technology marches on! :D
