How can you NOT post here??

Hey, I was sick. :( And I have been extremely busy lately.

And...I would never use those for an excuse for not doing something else... 😊 I'm never too sick or too busy for that, if that is what you all were implying! :p

Not to mention, I am not very pro-Japanese anything right now. I'm trying not to generalize, but with what all is going on, it's hard not to. At least I'm aware of this, I guess. I can't be but so pessimistic, though. I do have my boys... :-)

I forgot I was even here, I have no excuses. I do that alot.

I think I achieve the award for lowest post count. 0->1 o yes I am Awsome, do I get a lollipop?

I'll admit to having been sporadic regarding my visits here. Sadly, there are only so many hours in the day, what with work and quality time spent with my best friend, my 52 inch HDTV. It's so gosh darn possessive of me!

:D

Shhhhh, I'm keeping a low profile for now. I don't want to be known for being a trouble maker.... and I am fairly content just lurking.

I wondered where you were. Hiding in a dark corner, watching silently, ready to strike at a moments notice, or does that notice have to come at least a week in advance:-)

Yeah, no matter how many problems you may have with the Japanese people around you personally, I still hate generalizations about an entire ethnicity. 😌 Of course these stereotypes and negative perceptions are still unfortunately in the minds of many foreigners living there. Although I can't help thinking if you give it a few years and meet enough thousands of normal Japanese people, they will naturally become weaker or more balanced with experience.... :p

hm... i am on several forums to see different opinions of differnet people
im on one that is run by CrissCross (the company which publishes the "Metropolitian" magazine in Tokyo.
so i usually end up reading articles on here instead of writing / publishing

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. It was only after a certain amount of time here that I actually noticed these 'stereotypes.' Then with time, and with meeting more and more people, the stereotypes were just reinforced- what changes is how I react to them, or how I grow to understand them more.

Maybe they just like to read other people opinions rather than giving their own.

I would like to post more, but just as in the real world, people usually just ignore me. I sometimes get frustrated with trying to communicate with people, but mostly i'm used to it and i only post if i really want to know something or inform someone else of something. Please don't take this as a complaint.

I wonder why I post here because the ever increasing number of these types of threads.

I orginally signed up back in 2003 under another username, but since lost the password and do not have the e-mail address associated with it anymore.
I'd love to talk about j music, but most interests here are the visual key artists such as Glay, Gazette, etc etc. I mean, you can check out the entertainment forum and have a look see for yourself.

I post something about Mongol 800 or Shakalabbits and if I'm lucky will get about 5 posts. The interests that I have compared to others is not all that high, so I just wait for something that I am interested in before I post. Even if it is non-entertainment related.

Now if there is a real interesting thread I'd like to comment on, then I'd rather have all the information and resources to help back-up my theories, answers or replies before posting. Otherwise, I just look like a fool and get the usual Mike Cash comments. :D

I make approximately twelve posts per day on my main messageboard, and have for almost four years now. There are a few reasons that I post less here:

1. A lot of the board understandably seems to take the form of culture-specific questions (about Japan), which I don't have the experience to answer even speculatively. Or, in other words, I basically do not know what the hell I am talking about.

2. This messageboard is extremely polite, but I get the biggest kick out of less-than-polite debate online.

3. I'm not allowed to link to articles or tests and so on, not enough posts or whatever, which precludes my creating chit-chat type threads.

Still, none of that has much to do with this board itself. It's just me. With the exception of number 3, I think, but that seems like a sensible anti-advertising measure. I get a kick out of reading the archive, which is mostly what I do here. A lot of the older discussions regarding sociology, and particularly those Maciamo contributed to, are interesting reads.
