Sometimes it strikes me as ironic that the Japanese should have more hatred for China, a country that never did them any harm, then they do for America, a country that bombed the **** out of them in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Why do Japanese so admire the Americans, who were responsible for nearly wiping out 2 of their major cities and contaminating generations after with radioactive exposure...I just find it strange as to how the Japanese mentality works.

Fifty years ago, Mテ。o's party used to teach "imperialists tried to expoloit us but we kicked them out because China is great and capitalism is evil. Thus our army shall keep liberating the neighbor regions. Our future is bright."

Now they insist "Chinese managed to allow the takeover, China couldn't even defend herself against the attack of the barbarian Japs, resulting wartime hell."

Doesn't that sound like "Chinese are descendants of losers" does it? And they are proud of that in the name of "nationalism??"

Descendents of losers? Many countries have, at one point or another, made assertions that they are "great" and that they will resist foreign attacks. That does not necessarily mean they will always successfully do so, or that they'll emerge victorious in every war. It also does not give other people (Japan) the excuse to attack China who has been weakened as a result of their isolationist policy.

:( I'm sorry. America is always picking on every one. 😭 sorry sorry SORRY!!!! I want to learn about both China & Japan though.

Every conuntry has it's weak period and golden age.
Through out history, How many wars Japan won when battle with China? leave out the WWII. Japan always lost. Japan even become a tributary of China for hundred of years in T'ang. Now you call us descendants of losers.

HAHA

Korean people taught the Japanese different irrigation systems and how to farm and sew. We even helped them to write up their history at the very beginning. But right after Japan had became the most modernized country in Asia, they invaded Korea! The Japanese always wanted to annex China. To do that, they had to take over Korea first. Remember, their final target was always China!

Korea is small and is still less developed than Japan. I think that's why our opinions are often ignored. I hope China will apply more political, economic and military pressure on Japan!

Both Koreas are friends of the Chinese people! And Japan is.... you fill in the blank! I don't want my post to be erased again.

the reason why (i think) generally, there are no grudges with America is because the Japanese have a "winner is always right" mentality, so they have little to complain about America, who won the war.

Pluus, they probably realise that if America had invaded convensionally, there would have been substancially great losses on both sides, and America's action was actually arguably the right one to take (talking of the atom bomb's here). (estimated that invasion would have cost 500000 americans lives, and around 2 million Japanese ones.)

Totolly agree with you, Japanese always admire the winners. They don't like chinese because we didn't invade and occupy them when we have the ability to. That's something we did wrong.... We lost the chance to own their friendship. We should have learn what American did in WWII. one or two atomic bombs which will make them our friend forever. Just like nowaday the relationship between Japan and America. No wonder every Japanese woman wants to marry Amercian, because Amercian killed thousands of Japanese.
omg....

I don't think there is anything unusual about Japan not hating Americans for WW2. How many British people still harbor resentment against Germans for the blitz? How many Germans hate the US because of Dresden? Outside of the older generation who survived the war and can remember those things, the answer would be not many I guess. Same with Japan. More than 80% of the population wasn't even born yet when the bombs were dropped and for them Hiroshima and Nagasaki are just places where televised memorial services are held every August.

And America did help rebuild Japan when dring the occupation. That policy greatly helped improve the attitude towards America. It showed that Americans weren't the "barbarians" that they thought them to be because of the propaganda in WWII Japan.

Besides, Japan is being protected by America. Even though the two atomic bombings were horific events, good things did come from them, so that helped ease the anger felt by many Japanese people after WWII. Oh, and most of them are now dead anyway.

Most of the poeple who hate China are the radical nationalists, or the survivors of the old generation. Though some of my friends were pretty pissed after watching the 2004 Asian Cup, and seeing the treatment of the japanese fans and how the chinese players kept tripping the japanese players.
