Hey guys,

This is my first post here. I got here by typing "japan forum" thinking it would be a good place to start, and I hope this place will help me with my problem!

I have been searching for a certain item for a loooong loooong time over the past few years and have never been able to find it. I live in Canada by the way. I have finally stumbled upon a seller that has one up for auction on Yahoo JAPAN!

Now, I tried registering an account using the free Altavista Translate service and I recieved a "confirmation e-mail" that does not seem to be working. It ... it's so confusing.. Oh, did I mention I don't speak a word of Japanese?

Now, if anyone here is willing to help me out and guide me through the registration process successfully, or already has a Yahoo Japan account that he/she is willing to bid on the item for me, etc. ANY HELP actually, I will give you 5$ for your help via PayPal.

This is NOT a scam of any sorts, I'm just asking for help so I can bid on the item . I have been literally tearing myself into pieces searching for it over the years and I've finally found it. There is 4 days left until the auction ends and I CANNOT miss this. It's literally my life's dream.

My e-mail is cva4468996 (at) hotmail.com or just reply here! Thanks in advance!!!

Here is what is written in the confirmation e-mail. From what I understand, it wants to remove me for some reason???? When I click the link it does not work. If someone could help me I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you!

I assume that this is just an excerpt of your original mail. This is included in case you don't remember registering to the Yahoo auction. Try bidding with the account you have, and see if it works. Post again after trying. Good luck!

OK!

I finally got it registered and bid on the item! I am the current high bidder. Yay!!!!

I am just afraid that since I do not have any "feedback" yet the seller might be weary and cancel my bid or something, so I made sure to send him an e-mail.
Here is what I sent him (using altavista translate service) I hope he understands

- Yohan

I included the original english version just in case the seller actually speaks english..

Hello, First, I apologize for my bad Japanese. I do not speak Japanese. I have been searching for two years for the item you are selling and I have opened a Yahoo JAPAN account only for this reason. I just want to let you know, that even though I do not yet have appraisal, I am an honest and trustworthy buyer and will pay in full at auction end. Please let me know if you speak english, as that would make it so much easier for me. And again, I want to thank you for listing the item. Owning these glasses would be like a dream come true for me. Thank you! -Yohan

If anyone thinks that the translated version is non-understandable, would it be possible to make a quick translation of my letter to him ? (Ill send another one in that case) I Would greatly appreciate it.
Also, if someone could take a few minutes and skim through the FAQ ( I think it is this:

Yahoo! JAPAN IDに関するヘルプ

and see what the policies are about entering contact information would be? Yahoo japan did not ask for my address or name or contact info, etc. when I registered so I want to fill that in if there is an appropriate place to do so.
sorry for all the questions and stuff, I just want to make sure I win the darned thing.
and thanks in advance to all of you! (especially you Mikawa, thank you!) :)

erm .. you do know there are services that can help you bid on yahoo japan auctions, as most japanese sellers aren't keen on shipping worldwide. services like celga or rinkya (do a google search) act like 'middleman', help you bid, pass your payment to the seller and forward the items to you (at a fee, of course).

Yeah, I didn't mention this in the PM, but this particular seller wasn't willing to ship it internationally, either.

Hey tan,

the item I am looking for did not appear on the rinkya site for some reason. in fact, not everything on yahoo japan appears in their search engine for some reason.

anyway... this particular auction seller was asking 160,000 yen for the sunglasses which is around 1,200$ US which is absolutely insane...

I guess I'll have to keep looking. :(
