Hi there, I tried to keep this brief as the instructions said...but I failed miserably :)

My name is Ace, but in real life my name is Elvis. My parents weren't big fans of the singer but they loved the name. :) I call myself Ace because I try to become the best at whatever it is that I do. Even though I tend to do much of nothing! ^o^

I am a soldier in the United States Army. I am 24, and joined 5 years ago before I was even able to drink. I joined because I wanted to see the world, and since I come from the island of Puerto Rico, I wasn't able to truly see much on this planet of ours.

The Army truly gave me a bigger perspective on my life, it was harsh and difficult. However I have become stronger, a bit smarter and have gotten to see Europe, including Germany and France. I have also seen Iraq, of which I one day wish I could see in a better state than what it is right now. A beautiful country once, long abandoned and left to the ravages of politics and war...

I love Japan, ever since I was a small child I have struggled to learn the language, but being a native speaker of Spanish, it isn't common for Japanese to be taught locally. I was considered an awkward kid due to it, nobody wanted to help me find a teacher, luckily I found an amazing woman who decided that I was cute enough to teach in her own home. I wish I had spent more time with her, I will miss her greatly.

It has been nearly a decade now, and 5 years into my career into the military, I am looking at the possibility of realizing a dream. :) A dream to see Japan. Hopefully, if all goes well, I should be reenlisting for 3 years for Camp Zama.

Searching for information on Japan locally, led me here to this forum. :) So I hope to meet some good people here that can help me learn more about the local Japan experience, and hopefully I can make a good impression here and when I arrive in country. :)

Cute smilies btw... 😌

Hope you make it to the big J !

My 2 years of duty there were the best 2 years of my life. Best of luck on making it there.
