Im from the US and have been studying Japanese for quite a long time now. I found this site and thought it might be a good source of info and whatnot, so here I am. See you in the forums.

I would probably have to say anime, video games and martial arts. These were the things that convinced me to learn the language in the first place.

I see. For me, it had been mainly just the cultural aspects that had seemed to oppose some of those in the West. That, along with a natural and inbuild interest for the Orient, and my desire to learn languages gave me plenty of impetus to make it over here.

Absolutely, one of my friends will be moving there after this Christmas (in order to further his knowledge of the martial arts) I will most definitely be visiting him sometime.
