Hi folks!

I'm a old northen polarbear from Finland and just cant waiting my first (hope not the last) trip to Japan in July. I will travel by train through route Nagoya-Hiroshima-Miyajima-Kyoto -Tokyo-Nagano-Takayama-Nagoya. My lon lasting dream will come true soon!!!!

I'm a music lover so my iPod is full of different music. I also like to see world through lenses and I will take a lot of pics during my trip. I always do.

Other places I like is Austria and Latvia. OK, Italy isnt so bad espesially Rome or Florence.

My sport is the floorball (What!? Look up International Floorball Federation (IFF) homepage)

I hope I can share my experience with you after my trip!

Greetings from the roof of Japan, the Japan Alps !! The snow capped peaks are starting to show through the thinning ice and snow now, as the streams are starting to swell with icy cold water--just in time for the flooding of the rice paddies. This is Nagano...a place you plan on visiting this July.

I hope you enjoy the forum and post when you can. It's always nice to hear from everyone in this big world-wide happy family. You can surely learn a lot about Japan before coming over here.
Since you are planning on coming through Nagano, please do let me know, and if you stay over night near the Matsumoto area, we've got room in the back room for you to stay and save on the hotel bill.

First time I've heard of floorball, it does look strikingly similar to hockey though... any relationship between the two sports?

Yup, roots of Floorball is in Street Hockey in late 70s
Floorball is played with five field player and a goalie. And you use sticks like in ice hockey. Floorball is played inside on the floor, not on ice. Balls and sticks are plastic. Floorball is not so fysical than icehokey. Floorball is easy to come in, so its very good sport for schools.
And surprise...Japan have national floorball teams for ladies and men. I know because have worked as a deputy manager of Latvia. Just met the head coach of Japan in Latvia last November in WC games for U19 boys.

Thank you for your warning! We were in Singapore last summer and there was also very hot! We should take easy backpackers gears with us. Easy to care and easy to dry! Fortunately we aint sugar so we dont mind about the rain!

Hi again !! Those monkeys are in the Omachi area mainly. . although there are surely some other spots. In the summer, you can still see some go in the baths, if you go to the right area. I'll see if I can get some info on that by around that time.

Keep in touch. Two of you will be fine too, if things work out that way. Just stay in touch.
