There was a popular manga called "What's Michael", and the cat's name is Michael with some clever kanji play in the way they spell his name... that's not especially cute but...
My friend's cat's name is simply "neko" ~ & she is Japanese herself. A lot of Japanese adopt americanized names for their pets, my ex's dog's name was "Rock"...
