Heja!
I go under the name Shantal in here and currently live in Copenhagen, Denmark.
I have enormous admiration and respect (and a bit of dread and fear) for the Japanese people and culture and this naturally makes me search for more information about this country.
I believe that the best way to learn about Japan is to talk directly to Japanese people - those that have the language, traditions and culture running in their veins.
So, I am on a quest to find people that are willing to talk to me about all and everything - hope the JRef forum is the right place for this.
Peace of mind to all,
- Shantal

Sorry, I'm not Japanese, but I bid you welcome here on the forum! :)

If you have any questions, just post them to one of the subfora. Enjoy your stay!

Hi Shantal welcome to the forum!

I am looking forward to reading your posts!

Enjoy your stay.

:) thanks

So, now I've been around and it looks like I've gotten trough the "statisticaly regular procedure" - replies from Davey and Thomas, plus visit from Uncle Sam.. I mean Uncle Frank. Thank you all three :)

Seems like my biggest problem here would be finding the right place to post threads - its a bit unclear where the separate threads are. I read somewhere an advice from Davey stating: "Why don't you put an add in the classified section that you are
looking for a pen-pal!" I thought that this is a brillint piece of advice ... and got complete lost on my way to the above mentioned section .. never got there actually :\
But with enough iterations and persistant debugging of my failures, I'll get there :)

So, thanks again for your warm welcome, guys.

Hi Shantal, thanks for your feedback!

The main sections are outlined in the (dark red) top menu: discussions take place in the forum (you will just need to find an appropriate subforum), pictures go into the gallery, and - as the others have pointed out - penpal requests into the classifieds. Same login for all those modules.

If you need more assistance, just let us know. :)
