Getting Married - what to expect

LOL , and now that you posted something new , everyone will see it pop up. Wonder how the marriage went ? Still married ? Have kids ? Still in Japan or the states ? We will most likely never know .

It was an interesting read to say the least.

Personally I feel "culture "is too overrated. A marriage is between two individuals (and families). The dynamics are too complex to even imagine foretelling how it would work out.

I hope the OP is happily married and going strong anyways. Good news is always welcome to me.

Marriage may be between individuals, but intercultural marriages have an added potential for problems. Love does not conquer all.

aspenx,
Really? How so? Help me to get the meaning you intended.

I meant that there are factors for and against regardless of whether there are any cultural differences to begin with.

I am not insisting that cross-cultural marriage has less "potential for problems" and obviously I'm also not saying that there will definitely be more.

And if you take a closer look, I mentioned families too. My view is that it is too complicated to insist that culture differences are the biggest sources of problems.

Love does not conquer all? That topic didn't even cross my mind.

On another note, I wonder if my English is getting "unnatural". Trying to express myself in this post was difficult... It's probably also the reason you got the wrong idea. Oh well.
